I now own my very first handgun!
Well, I guess this is what you call jumping in with both feet.
I started shooting handguns about four months ago, having never shot one before, and got my start with a S&W M66 that a friend used as his duty weapon. I took to it right away and decided that my first gun would be a S&W of some sort in .357 Magnum.
I asked a local shop that I now frequent to order this S&W 627 Performance Center revolver for me, and I picked it up just three days ago. I can't wait to get it to the range and put it through its motions for the first time. I'll provide a report here when the time comes.
Needless to say, I've handled it extensively since its arrival. The fit and finish are first rate all around. It's a substantial gun, but I haven't found it to be too much of a handful. The double-action pull is extremely smooth.
Here she is.

Congratulations on your first S&W revolver and it's an excellent choice. However, be forwarned that they become addictive in a hurry so you are standing on a very slippery slope indeed.

Thank you, gentlemen. I'm proud to say that I made a Smith & Wesson revolver — a real American classic if there ever was one — my first handgun.
I should also note that I gave the shop some more business by picking up a Ruger SP101 DAO just minutes after I took ownership of the 627.
A very slippery slope.

Very nice, BenR - I am a young S&W owner myself, and I understand what these fellows mean by a "slippery slope" - enjoy.

Outstanding! Congratulations on reaching Manhood (LOL)!! That is one sweet pistola you've got there. Take good care of her and she'll take good care of you if and when she's ever called to do so! Congrats again!

Now all you need to do is trade that ruger for another Smith & Wesson .

Congrats and great choice. Nothing like a N frame for shooting 357 magnums.
Thanks for sharing,
Howard

I didn't post a picture of it because I'd hate to offend your delicate sensibilities.
