Help!! New 329NG delivered with a cracked frame! Pics inside!
I purchased a Brand New S&W 329NG from a reputable gunbroker dealer, and it arrived to my ffl i went and picked it up on my lunch break, so i didn't have time to inspect it. When i got home i opened the cylinder to see that i has a cracked frame, and its new in the box! What should i do, as the gun broker dealer is giving my the run around. Will Smith replace the gun, or comp me another model, as I have a hard time trusting my life with a gun that comes from the factory with a cracked frame. I knew i should have stuck with all steel guns!

Sometimes you get better service from the manufacturer, afterall, it is their product. I would send it directly to S&W unless your dealer is willing to exchange it for another one.

Since you did not purchase it from your local dealer, but just used his ffl as a delivery point of your purchase, it does not surprise me he would not stand behind the gun.
Sure does look like a crack, maybe from the barrel being over-torqued / improperly installed? I would forward a couple clear pics to S&W along with a request for a return (no cost to you) shipping label. I am sure they will cover it under warranty. Kind of hard to blame a cracked frame on a new unfired gun on the owner... Since the frame is the serial numbered part considered the gun, I would think it would be replaced with an entire new gun sent to your local dealer. I cant see it being repaired, and I would not accept it back as such.

Most of the mail order shops will accept the firearm back as long as it is still with your dealer. Once it is transferred to you, it becomes a factory warranty issue.
Smith and Wesson should take care you. Just give them a call.

Once you have the gun transferred to you the only available recourse is the factory warranty. Give S&W a call on their 800 number. They will take care of the problem.

I'm quite sure S&W will fix this. I had this happen with a steel Colt SAA that was new in the box, old stock. The frame was cracked on one side, where the barrel screwed in. They replaced the frame with a new one and used the same serial number. S&W should be able to do the same, and I'm sure they will. Its unfortunate you got a bad one, but S&W will fix it for free.

It seems to me that the appropriate thing to have done before putting this out on the forum was to contact S&W and give them a chance to take care of the problem. I am sure they will with no hesitation. Then you could post the great customer service you received. Their website address is Smith & Wesson and they naturally list contact info and the proper procedure to follow.

Yeah, I imagine 5 minutes on the phone to S&W would have a return label in the mail to you. Not all that long after you sent it in, you'd have a new gun (or at least a new frame). S&W won't give you the run around, and they're extremely good about taking care of their customers.
