Default Commemorative value

Would anyone care to value a Model 25-9 Richard Petty commemorative? From what I've found, there were 802 produced. Is there any significance to this production figure? How does this number produced compare to the numbers of other limited production/commemorative guns? The gun is NIB. Thanks for any information.

I have one of these guns. Mine is #323 of 802 made and I just found a listing for one for sale on the gandermountain.com for $1439.00.

Gander Mountain® > Smith Wesson Model 25-9 Richard Petty Commemorative Handgun - Used Firearms > Handguns :

I hope this helps. I'd been wondering the same thing myself for quite some time. The original issue price of this gun I believe was $559.00 in 1992.

In my experience, almost all "commemoratives" actually bring little, if any, premium. Sure, there's the buyer who "just has" to have it, but for many, if not most, its a turn-off.

I liken this to selling a home with a swimming pool. Have to find just the right buyer.

I don't want to upset anyone. But, that one on Gander Mountain has been there quite a while. These kinds of guns often don't fetch much more money, if any, over a regular model of the same make and model. Contrived "collectors items" often do not appreciate as folks would often expect. Mostly, these guns have value to folks that want to commemorate a person or event.
