Grip sets?
My memory is going, in leaps, and bounds, and while I'm still able, I'd like to find out the types of grips, that came with my S&W Mod. 629-3, 1 of 3000 - Magna Classic set. my set has the case, papers, tools, and the fancy wood target grips, but I remember that there were a pair of rubber utility grips included in the original set. can any of you experts tell me the types of grips that were included in the set originally? I'd like to equip this set with all of the original equipment again. Thanks.

Thanks, Narragansett for your kind, and thoughtful reply. I don't quite know the appropriate way to address all of my other forum friends? I guess I'll just drop my request for Information, and "Leave The Sleeping Dog Lay".

Chubbo, The wood grips are flat side combats, not targets. The wood is Morado or Goncalo Alves IIRC. Same grips that I have on this 5" 629-3 Classic.

Thanks
75Vette;
Thanks for your correction, as to the type of grips that came with my MC set. I am posting the best picture of my 629, that i am capable of taking. I am curious, can you tell me what this wood, actually is? Thanks.

Not a wood expert but would have to guess it's Goncalo Alves with the orange tint. VERY nice gun sir.

I suspect that Narragansett is correct. I know for a fact that the 29-3 Classic Hunter came with the Hogue Monogrips, so I'd expect the factory to put the same ones on the 629-3.

IIRC the M 629-3 Magna Classic came with the same grip sets
as the M 629-3 Classic DX (Sorry for the "bad light" pics):
1. Wooden* "flat side" Combats (see also posts # 4 +5)
* I'm leaning to
Goncalo Alves | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Hardwood)
and
2. Hogue (Round to Square Butt Conversion) rubber Monogrip
with S&W medallions in

I would like to get the part number for the Monogrip shown in P.44's post #8. P.44 do you have it? If not, does anyone else? I would like to have the correct S&W part number, so that if I do decide to find one, I'd know the correct grip to ask for. I have never seen Hogue grips listed with the metal logos, so, I guess it will have to be a S&W grip. Thanks.

Good luck, S&W hasn’t offered those in about a decade. They occasionally come up at auction, but you won’t like what they go for.

I reckon I got lucky & found a set on Ebay for $30. Patience & luck works sometimes.

Sorry (especially to Chubbo), I don't have a parts#
and I fear, s&wchad is right: ...long out of production.
So the auction sides...(see post #11 from 75Vette).
GOOD LUCK !
