Default Show off your J-frames with aftermarket grips

Looking for some grip ideas for various J-frame aftermarket grips.

I'll soon be adding another one to the collection and am considering a different set of shoes for it.

Would enjoy seeing what you've done with yours.

Sure are handy little guns.

I have only the stock rubber grips on my Airweight.

Here's a few:

Model 60 with the old "Lightning" grips by Bianchi. Kinda heavy, but makes the 36s and 60s snag-free. I use this one in a shoulder holster when appropriate.

This 642 has a set of Hip-Grips, made by Barami. They enable very useful pocket carry.

This 649 also has Barami Hip-Grips, seen from the other side.

Here's a 640 with a set of Herrett's "Shooting Star" grips which were custom made to my hand pattern way back in the '60s. Easily the most comfortable and effective grips for a J-frame I've ever used - at the expense of a bit more bulk.

I find the Barami Hip-Grips to be the most useful and versatile grips for concealed carry. Here's another set on a 442:

This Model 317 has a set of Dymondwood boot grips that used to be offered as an option by S&W. They are no longer made, but they are very light and compact. I like this setup for ankle carry. You might be able to scare up a pair on eBay or at gun shows.

Hope these pics will give you some useful options.

John

Here's a set of "no-name" gunshow stocks on my 60-4:

I cannot, visually, endure rubber grips on most of my handguns.

I can't really recomend the grips on the 642 as for over $100 I expected them to fit without a lot of trimming. I do like them for as long as they last.

The model 60 has Hogue grips on it and they are swell...

Paladin85020 is that 640 wearing a set of Clipdraws? My wife wants to know, if you ever have a problem with the gun pushing up and unclipping when you sit down? She is considering a set for her J-frame. BTW nice collection.

My first two '60 Pro' style replacement stocks were $43 + s/h from S&W. They really improved both the 5" and newer 3" 63:

I liked those grips - the 60 Pro style - so much, I paid $631 + s/t for my third set... which came on my new 60 Pro! How is that for expensive grips... of course, I got a new 3" 60, too!

"Yes, dear, those grips were a bit dear in cost... but, they came with a neat revolver, too!"

Yes, that is an early Clipdraw setup (2 anchoring screws). I've had the "pushup" phenom happen occasionally with both this and the Hip Grips when jammed into the waist - BUT the solution is to use them in your pants pocket. No problem there, and the gun is quickly and easily accessible.

Awesome lookin wheel gun!

I'm new to the revolver platform and was wondering about the use of the moon clips. I thought the cylinder had to be machined to allow the clip to seat properly... Are these a specific kind of MC that doesn't require that?

Thanks in advance.....

Sort of aftermarket. I've had this M60 since 1974 and have lost count of all the different stocks its worn over the years. Latest is back to original types. With the Tyler (only 5 months wait last year) this setup works well in my pocket.

Not much of a fashion statement, these Pachmayr SJ-C Compacs do an excellent job of taming the .357 Magnum ammo I shoot from and carry in my M&P340.

Thanks and again nice guns.

They have the same dimensions as the Uncle Mike's Boot Grips S&W used until fairly recently and will work with the same speed loaders.

Actually, I seldom carry speed loaders any longer, but keep a speedstrip or two in my pockets.

Default Model 60-14 with CTC LG405

Model 60-14 with CTC LG405 laser grips
- Perhaps not pretty but certainly functional.

Sidebar question:
- Anyone have any idea the age of this with SN LDV03xx

Safariland.
They had 3 finger grooves.
Cut down by King's Gunworks, Glendale, CA.
They were made for J, K and N frame Smiths and others.
Sometimes you can find them at gun shows.
