Default 327 Night Guard

Anyone have one?? I am really interested in 8 shots in a relatively (for an 8 shot N frame) small package. I handled one today. It had a great trigger, and great sights. Anyone's experience wouldbe appreciated.

I don't have the 327 Night Guard but I do have the 310 NG (10mm/40cal), and it appears from looking at the S&W catalog that there are some similarities. It looks to me that the 357 does not use the moon clips, as the 38/357 have rimmed cases, and that's a good thing. The frame mounted firing pin (same as 327NG?) is problematical, with a history of light strikes and ammunition sensitivity. A couple manufacturers make an oversized pin (by .015") and Miculek makes a spring kit for K, L and N frame revolvers which contains a hammer and rebound spring which some advise on using.

I don't know if this will help with your decision on buying a 327, but these comments might help as you look further into it. Again, my experience is only with the 310, but others might have more information for you.

I have the Model 357 NG in 41 Mag. It is also an N Frame and does not require the moon clips. I like mine a lot. It's hard to sometimes justify the cost, but they really are nice. Has the front night sights and is light for the big N frame.

Double action is long and heavy, but so is every other revolver. Single action is quite nice. I sometimes use it for back packing, but also have a Ruger Blackhawk in 41 mag for that. My main use is a carry weapon. I alternate between this, a Glock 19 and a NAA Mini Revolver. Today it's the NG's turn.

I had one, and traded it...I trade a lot, simply because I get the itch for something new...and this is one I wish I hadn't.

As has been previously mentioned, some of the NG revolvers have had an issue with the firing pin...but that is easily remedied. My revolver had what seemed to me to be a smooth and relatively light DA trigger pull, and a very nice SA pull.

I think you will be happy with it. I may have to get another one myself! 8 shots in a revolver is nice.

I recently bought used a 325NG in .45 acp, which uses moon clips. It's a very nice gun!
