Default 686-5+ Comp Carry, Unfluted Cylinder Performance Center 3"

I'm looking for information on a 686 I came across. It is a 686-5 Performance Center, 7 shot unfluted cylinder, 3" barrel with the Power Port. Asking $600. I have tried searching and cannot find any information on this particular model. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It is on its way. I couldn't pass it up. I only wish it was a -4 so no MIM internals. I don't think the MIM parts are inferior, I just prefer the aesthetics of the non-MIM parts. I haven't been able to find any information on this particular revolver. Thanks.

Would this be it?

Product code 170074, 686 Carry Comp. 3" ported barrel with dovetail front sight. 7 shot unfluted cylinder, rubber grips. Also found with a fluted cylinder under same product code.

SCSW 3 ed, Performance Center Models, pg 362-363, Supica and Nahas.

Hope this helps but that was as close as I could find on it.

A quick search turned up a little bit of information on this model. I'm not completely sure that it is a -5. It doesn't appear to have night sights, at least in the rear - indicative of the earlier Comp Carry models. But it does have a 7 shot unfluted cylinder - indicative of a later Comp Carry. Maybe the owner swapped out the night sight, or maybe they sent it to S&W for a cylinder swap. I guess I'll have a better idea in a few days when I pick it up. I noticed they go for around $1000 or so I'm pretty happy with this. Anybody have any further information on production numbers? I've seen 300 being tossed around. Any ideas as to how many were fluted vs. unfluted? I'm assuming that not too much is known about this model. Would Lew Horton be able to provide additional info? Thanks
