Default Slim K-frame wooden grips

I have recently acquired a M-66-2 with a four inch barrel. It had the original target grips. I'm looking for some wooden grips as slim as the Hogue mono rubber grips. Any thoughts?
Preferably checkered, at least in the side panel area.
Thanks in Advance.

Hogue rubber & wood are the same size, can't get any closer than that.

Spegals are pretty thin grips in SB configuration. As are Ahrends. Thinner than SW Targets in any event.

Or...check out Collins Craft for grips by Don Collins. He will make you pretty much anything you want.

Or...send a pm to VM here on the forum, he can pretty much thin out anything you want.

Or...send a pm to Kurac here on the forum, he makes some AMAZING Targets that are slimmer than the factory versions.

Hope this helps.

I can vouch for VM's work. I just bought what I found out to be his hand done goodness. Also Ahrends makes amazing stuff. You might even check the Altamont website. Those last two are my go to grip people for S&W's.

OK Bob, How about a picture with those babies on the gun?
Tom, the guy who sold you the grips.

Since you asked:

I was told these started out as beater targets. Now they are slimmed down and have a slight palm swell. I wasn't big on the super relieved cut out for speed loaders but it is a nice option to have. This stock glues itself to my hand. If I ever buy a square butt 686 this will migrate to that. For now they ride my bedside 19-4.

Thanks, Fellows. Now I have some good places to start looking. I have fairly big hands, but the target grips are just a little too large at the bottom to get a grip when using the
.357 loads. Appreciate it.

With that thought in mind, does Eagle grips have quality grips, and are they still in business? I have found their website, but on another forum I was told they have folded?

Eagle is still in business, grips are made in India now, though. Many are complaining of "fit issues" now too, myself included.

Altamont makes nice laminated wood grips in walnut, rosewood and blackwood that are a slimmer alternative to the S&W target grips. I love S&W targets on anything up to .38 special, after that, the bottom edge really does beat your hand!. For what its worth, I have Ahrends, Altamonts and Hogue wood on S&W K and N frames and all are fine choices.

I must also add- Eagle grips are nowhere near as well fitted since they began importing from India. I have three sets and all needed or still need fitting and sanding. I've never had an issue with the American made Ahrends, Altamonts or Hogues.

I've used these guys before when they were still on ebay, now they have their own site, and their grips are top notch. Here's their grips on my 624.
