The textured silver strikes me as a way that didn't work, and now we all know. So thanks for trying, and for sharing the results.

I sense that your experiments will continue. If they do, please keep us posted.

Edited to add:

I find that I have a can of that same paint (different color) and it says it's for METAL surfaces, with no mention of wood, plastic or any other surface on which it might be used. Don't know if that would make a difference in the way the color and/or texture would look when sprayed on plastic. But if you do decide to strip the adapter and paint again, it might be worth looking specifically for a paint that is designed for plastic. (Like the Krylon Fusion line mentioned in earlier posts.)
I just didn't know the texture plus the silver was going to equal such a level of "sparkle" to it. I guess with use it will die down from wear and gunk build up. I was going to clear coat it to keep it clean and keep too much grunge from getting into it. But I think that will only trap or enhance the sparkle/glitter. I'm thinking of hitting it with a light gray and then clear. I like the added grip from the texture. They had a black texture as well. I may try that on my next BK adapter for my 28.

Default Krylon Paint and Gunscrubber - Big No No

For those intrigued by Krylon paint on BK grip adapters, be advised that GunScrubber will take it off in about one second. I just tried it on a Krylon-painted test adapter that has been "curing" for more than a week, and one spray of Gunscrubber bubbled the paint off the plastic instantly. I think I cleaned the adapter before spraying (with mineral spirits, per the instructions on the can), so it should have had as good adhesion as it was going to get.

Edited to add: Decided to extend the experiment this morning, and found that lacquer thinner and acetone both removed the paint too. Not as instantly as Gunscrubber, but just a little gentle wiping with a soaked Qtip took the paint right off.

The underlying plastic of the grip adapter is immune to these chemicals, so the black tint remains unaffected. But a painted surface will be at risk. Not many of us use lacquer thinner or acetone as gun cleaning agents, and Gunscrubber has a warning on the can that it may harm painted surfaces. But these are chemicals which many of us have around the house, and they will adversely affect these adapters if they are painted with Krylon.

Anybody know if there are any paints that are resistant to these chemicals once properly cured? Any available in spray cans that might be of interest to us for these purposes?

Satin black is drying over the metallic silver texture (glitter sparkle) paint. I will try the result out on my 28 and post pics. The texture is nice to add some non-skid surface to the slick plastic.

I have found the fit with this same adapter to be not so hot with my M28. It may be due to the minor variations in grip frame finishing or final milling of the magna stocks. But for this being a square butt adapter it would work fairly well on a round butt as well. The fit isn't perfect but it is very usable:

Also, this is the result of a thin coat of satin black over the previous textured silver metallic posted above.

Default Anybody else trying out the BKGRIPADAPTERS?

Since it seemed unlikely that Tyler would be catching up on their backlog of orders anytime soon, when I saw that wrangler5 was going
to make some I jumped on board. I've currently got a Terrier, a pre-32, and an H&R .38 S&W Hammerless fitted with the BK's.
The pic isn't the greatest, but it's about as good as any of my other pics. I'm pretty happy with them, and thought I should share. TACC1

I got my J frame BK grip today. Shipping was very fast, I ordered late in the evening and it shipped the next morning.

Deciding whether to try my 36 or 37 first was tough, but I went with the 37. I think it makes for a handsome package with the adapter installed on the gun. Fit is not perfect, without the stocks the adapter could slide around on the frame and not really find a groove to rest in. The stocks clamp it down more, but I'm not sure how it will hold up to recoil. It may shift around, though it feels good in the hand just holding the gun.

Interestingly, I threw the grip adapter on my Pre-10 K frame and it seemed to fit pretty well. Next I plan to check my 36 round butt.

I used some 400 grit sand paper on mine, sprayed it with some gray primer, and then used that textured silver. The regular silver should get you close to your desire.

Wrangler5 -

Are you getting any or enough feedback that might lead you to go ahead and make a mold for an N frame adapter?

Most of the feedback I have received about the fit of the K frame adapter on N frame guns has been positive. Several customers who ordered one to try have come back and ordered multiple others. And as I have indicated here (well, somewhere on this forum) the K actually fits MY 1917 better than a Tyler #4, which is what I would use if I were to make a separate N adapter in the BK line.

So that's a long way to say that at the moment I do NOT have plans to make a separate adapter just for N frame guns.

After being very satisfied with the fit of the J Frame BK adapter, I ordered a K-N adapter and here some photo's of the fit on three different K and N frames. I was very pleased with the fit of all.

K Frame Round Butt, 19-4 with Metaloy finish

K Frame Sq Butt, 15-3

N Frame Sq Butt, Pre-27 with Grasshorn Stags

Years ago, I decided that the Bodyguard had enough ugly for two guns, and the only way to make it uglier was to add a grip adapter. Then I finally got around to submitting the paper work for my license to carry and while I was waiting for it to come in, a used alloy frame bodyguard showed up at a good price at the local shop and I bought it. After carrying it almost exclusively for years, I've become a fan of its functional beauty, which it has in abundance. I therefore decided I could make it even more functionally beautiful by adding a grip adopter and ordered one of the BKs. Like everyone else, mine showed up quickly and fits fine. I had never fired a revolver with a grip adopter and I'm very impressed with the difference it makes in drawing from the holster, gripping, and shooting.

PLEASE DO NOT ORDER UNTIL THE NEW 2 CLIP MODELS ARE AVAILABLE, WHICH SHOULD BE IN A FEW DAYS TO A WEEK AT MOST.

OLD STOCK OF SINGLE CLIP ADAPTERS IS EXHAUSTED (EXCEPT FOR A FEW SILVER PAINTED J FRAME MODELS) AND I WON'T BE MAKING ANY MORE OF THE OLD MODELS.

THE 2-CLIP VERSION WILL BE SUPERIOR AND YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU WAITED, EVEN IF THE PRICE GOES A LITTLE HIGHER.

THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

Default BK GRIP ADAPTERS

If you're looking for grip adapters, and don't want to wait until Tyler catches up, you should get hold of wrangler5. He is making new
adapters for $20-$25 and they are available now.
Below is a pic of a Model 36, 3" and also a pic of a H&R Hammerless in 38 S&W.
Shipping time was like two or three days. Hard to beat! TACC1

I was told he is working on putting up a website. I can't wait to try the duel tab adapters he is just starting to make. I have always disliked the movement at the bottom of the body of Tylers. It scrapes the wood over time and leaves what I refer to as the "Tyler Scar" but I doubt I'm the only one that calls it that. I also greatly prefer the fact that the copper strip is molded into the body. I had to repair one of my Tylers since it popped free of the copper. I have an old S&W branded Mershon and it has scraped the sides of the grip frame some. Not sure what the material is for the tabs, but it isn't copper. I put some mole skin on the back where the tab is riveted to the body to make sure it doesn't scrape. I don't care for the hard rubber that moves around at the bottom of the body. So... I have lots of reasons for saying so much good stuff about BK's. They are the best grip adapters I have tried so far and with the duel tab they just got better!!!

I put them on my 36 no dash and they fit perfect. Now I am going to try his new design on my 547. And I wouldn't put just anything on it. Great product and great service.

Default ...and now: The BK Classic!

Arrived today. From last-ever run of BK Classic adapters. This will doubtless skyrocket in value. In fact, I'm counting on it to offset my other investment losses!
One can only imagine the future value of a LNIB (like new in baggie) adapter.

Default New BK (Upgraded/Quad tab/Duel Strip/???

Whatever Wrangler5 decides to call these, I call them awesome!!! OK, on the outside there is no visual difference at all. BUT... On the inside, he has moved the original copper strip a bit higher in the body, and he added a second strip closer to the bottom. All the little grip adapter wiggle and squirm at the bottom is now gone. The only way I can move it at all is to use two fingers and pry it side to side. This bad boy is locked in there for serious shooting at the range. I have ruined one other brand by allowing too much movement and narrowly been able to fix it. Short of catastrophic events I don't see how this one could go bad. The body is some kind of epoxy resin and the copper tabs are locked in place by the grip panels for near zero movement. I liked them before, now I love them:

For those of you who may be wondering how Maximumbob54 got a 2-clip adapter 5 minutes after I announced they were available - well he was the one who gave me the original idea, and a push to make it happen. I sent him the first one out of the mold a couple of days ago, to test on his guns.

I have not actually moved the "upper" clip on this particular mold, although the angle at which the clip is inserted into the mold before the resin is poured may cause it to tip a bit up or down as between samples. I do intend to make future molds with the upper clip moved up a bit from its current position, although there isn't a whole lot of room to do so - maybe a half a clip's worth. I suspect it would add even more to the stability, though, by extending the "base" between the two attachment points.

I've set up a web site where you can order these with a few clicks. It's pretty basic at the moment, but some may find it easier to deal with. Check out BK Grips | 2-Clip Grip Adapters for Revolvers

I’m willing to buy one for my Smith & Wesson Model 37, (38 SPCL), can you please tell me which model should I choose?
I’m a little bit confused about the J-frame and the K-frame stuff, my gun’s series start with J-69 so, is it a J-frame?
Thank you very much!

Your Model 37 would be a J frame.

donchele, you won't regret it I bought one of the early and now antique models for my 36 no dash and I won't take it off. It makes makes all the difference in the world in how it points and feels. Now I need on for my 19-3 RB and my 547 RB.

I know, you have no idea how I had been searching for a product like this... I like the look that it gives to our guns... I like my 37, but I feel its kinda girly, but this make it looks tougher...
I inherit this gun from my father, He bought it 35 years ago, and it has been in our family since then!

Easiest way is to go to the web site BK Grips | 2-Clip Grip Adapters for Revolvers, click on Order, then click on J Frame Grip Adapter Black and drag it to the Shopping Bag. Then click on the Open Bag link under the bag image and follow the checkout procedure.

I would prefer that you can send me a billing email from paypal, and I will provide you a shipping adress in the US where you can send my product (since Im in Honduras, Central America my paypal shipping adresss will show a Honduran Adress)...

Will you provide me a Tracking ID code?

If this procedure is right with you I can send you my email adress via PM right now ... (But I will make you the payment on monday, since Im not in my House rith now )

I just received my BK Adapters and installed the "K" on my 10-5 square butt. The fit is good and I like it. These are the new 2 clip versions.

Anyone have any experience on how they fit these Altamont grips?

Also, how has the durability of these been compared to traditional Tyler T-Grips? I really like the look of these BKs, especially the black ones.

I am going to post this on here. I have ordered and received 3 BK grip adapters. One for a K frame, one for a J frame and one for a M12 K frame. All of them work as intended and fit perfectly. The finish is fine, the cost is very fair, and as you can tell, I am a satisfied customer. Why anyone would mess around trying to get another type of grip adapter is beyond me. I have recommended BK Grips to all of my shooting buddies. Ok, that is all.

Just wanted to say that I just received my new BK Grips for my M&P (Pre-10) snubbie, and that they look and feel great! I've never had any Tylers, but I don't see how they could possibly be any better than my BKs. Reasonable price. Easy to pay for. Fast delivery. Highly recommend!

I would say that so far with my Altamont grips the fit is less than perfect but more than good enough.

Durability? Tyler has a hole punched through the copper strip and a raised part of the body goes through the hole. It is in effect riveted in place. I had one pop off one time and was able to fix it. BK's have the strip going through the body of the resin. If you manage to break one, you did something very wrong. Now that he has added a second strip, you will have to do something VERY wrong to break one.
