Question J&G Sales model 64 NY-1 handgun question

Hoping someone can help me with information on the surplus model 64 NY-1 handguns that they show on their website? Would appreciate any photos on any guns purchased. I know they have been listed for a while has the inventory been picked over or are nice guns still being shipped? Are any of the VG rated guns in like new condition? Thanks,

Sad to say I traded mine a while back but all that I have seen are good shooters with holster wear. They are still getting a supply of these guns as more and more of the last revolver accademy classes retire. Most NY gun stores will only give an officer $75 - $125 for the gun.

When J&G grades guns I think they use the NRA rating system.

VERY GOOD: In perfect working condition, no appreciable wear on working surfaces, no corrosion or pitting, only minor surface dents or scratches.

The one and only Model 10 I purchased from them and rated Very Good barely would meet the standard. Actually it was the worst condition gun I have ever owned.

You take a gamble buying any firearm sight unseen.

Caveat Emptor.

My shooting budies and I bought nearly 20 of the Mod 64 4" DAO J&G advertized last year. We ordered 6 first then just kept going back after seeing how decent they were. All were advertized as VG. All were very tight but showed allot of holster wear and some dings. Grips were junk. Being stainless, they all cleaned up to near new though. Super deal for the $200 we paid.

Unhappy In retrospect a very sad situation.

The NCPD transitioned to 9mms about the same time as the NYPD and we also went through a time when officers were selling their revolvers for peanuts. With NCPD it was a little different because we were given a choice as to what type of 38 special we were allowed to buy as long as it had a 4" barrel. Anyway, having been caught up in the auto craze, I sold my Combat Masterpiece and off duty air weight for less than $200 if I remember correctly. Gee I usually hate impulsive decision. Oh well. I was told at the time that most of those revolvers would be sent out of the country, but who knows.

J&G has a partner store in NYC. They will never say who.
