So I was paging through Bud's and saw this...

They're out of the Performance Center so I doubt there will be more than 500. Doesn't look like they have made them yet, none of the distributors show them in stock. I have the 5" Pro Series 686 and like the length, I just can't find much use for a luggage rack.

The rail looks to be removable. The only thing that would make this more desirable to me is if it comes in a + (7 shot cylinder) version. I'm just imagining a five inch half lugged 686+ with the added value of being capable of mounting a flash light if I felt the desire. That would be a must have for me.

Yeah the rail is most likely removable, the S&W website does show it as a 6-shot.

Remove the lock, change back to forged parts with the firing pin on the hammer, get rid of the ridiculous barrel rail and put back the full underlug and I would think about buying one.
Also, I would have to be guarantteed that it would not need a trip back to S&W to correct any factory defects that are all too common nowadays in modern era S&W's.
