DeSantis Holsters
I need to get a belt holster for my 442. I have been drawn to the DeSantis for some reason. I can't decide between the Speed Scabbard and Mini Scabbard. It appears that the Mini has a belt attachment behind the gun, which would appear to make it protrude out more. The Speed Scabbard appears to be a typical dual slot pancake rig which would be fairly concealable.
Any thoughts on either? Or even a Galco? I need/want something quickly, and since it's not an everyday carry piece I don't need a custom rig. At least not yet.

Check S&W Accessories for their own OWB pancake J-frame holsters, many times in RH or LH - tan or black - thumb latch or not - and made by DeSantis, but with the S&W logo imprinted. I got a 3" J-frame example from them several months back - ~$75 shipped. It fits my 3" 63 and 3" 60 Pro perfectly. Last week I received a speed holster from them for my new Governor. Both came in DeSantis bags! Great fit, too.

DeSantis makes as good a holster as anybody. I have several different models and never got a bad one from them yet. They are my first choice to fill any commercial grade holster need.

I ordered a rig from desantis today. I didn't see any black ones for the 442 on the S&W site. Or Lefty. Hopefully I'll have it in a week or so.

DeSantis holsters are a great fit and bargain for the construction and build quality. You will not be sorry. I love the speed scabbard, by the way.

The Speed Scabboard is a great holster for the money. It's what I used to use when packing my 3" 657 in the winter. Did a darn good job with the heavy N frame and will make a very comfortable and concealable rig for your J frame. Good choice!

Great holsters
I have several DeSantis holsters and prefer them above all others. I you have extra time you can place a special order and get basketweave also, which is drop dead gorgeous! I like their speed scabbard holster without a thumb break best. It is so tightly molded that you will not lose your weapon.

I should have bought the speed holster for my 3" J-frames (60 Pro & 63). The thumb latch works well with them, but it won't fit over my 642's hump. Oh well, it fits the R. Mika's pocket holster perfectly - goes everywhere like that.

i would go for the speed scabbard; i have one myself: for the price it is great. i also have a don hume, which is similar to the mini scabbard, and it does protrude a bit. of the two go for the speed.

I like 'em. Have several, they work great for Airweight J's & there's nothing better for carrying a big heavy gun.

Mine arrived yesterday. I couldn't believe how well my 442 fit. For $70, I think it was a good choice. I may change my grips to square because there isn't much to grap a hold of with the current round ones.
