Got some new Culinas!
Just got a set of John’s N frame combats. I put them on my new 629-4 classic for a couple of pictures, but they will probably make the rounds as my dress up formal grips on my 657 and 610 also.

Yes, they are beautiful, I just received two sets of walnut K frame targets. Put one set on my 1948 K22 and the other on my 17-4, really dresses them up.

Love the Culina combats on my 625.
That's a good looking 629 with those stocks.
BTW, we are Knox class brothers...

Where were you stationed? We were out of Pearl Harbor and I was on the Brewton Sept’80 to March’84.

Wow, I was surprised to find out the Hepburn was named after a former high ranking flag officer, the former Commander of the United States Fleet and Director of Naval Intelligence, no less. Quite a long and distinguished career too. There’s gotta be a story there, kind of like how Halsey just got a ship named after him and Spruance got an entire class of ship named after him because Halsey fell out of favor in Washington after the debacle of the Battle off Samar. The Brewton was named after a Seal Lieutenant KIA in Vietnam, John Cooke “Bubba” Brewton. He was one bad dude, though who heroically gave up his life saving a lot of his teammates. But I digress...I just love Naval history

I was the CMC on the USS Paterson, FF-1061 that was named in honor of Commodore Daniel Todd Patterson (1786-1839), who performed distinguished service at New Orleans during the War of 1812.
Back to grips made by Culinas.
On my M21-4.

I didn’t mean to go way off topic, but I was interested in how they named the various FF’s. Usually I thought they stayed within some boundaries with most classes of ship, boomers named after states, fast attacks named after cities, super carriers named after presidents, etc.
Take for example the three sister ships to the Brewton, USS Rathburne FF-1057 (named after Continental Navy Officer John Rathbun, but spelled differently); USS Whipple FF-1062 (named after Captain Abraham Whipple of the Continental Navy); and USS Ouellet FF-1077 (named after Seaman David George Ouellet, a posthumous MOH recipient who served in Vietnam in a Riverine Warfare Detachment). Namesakes from quite diverse backgrounds, the only common thread being that they were all Navy Veterans.
