I'm looking at a 13-3 with 3" barrel that has a ADV prefix to the #.
I don't find this prefix in my S&W book.
Seller says that it's a "FBI" prefix, I have my doubts...
Anyone who can help, I'd appreciate it.

I believe most of the FBI guns were -2's and most had 6D-9D prefixes. You have to read between the lines in the book, ADV will fall somewhere between ADT 3000 Jan 84 and AEV Nov 84 by then I believe the FBI was buying M65's. There is an old saying "buy the gun not the story" which might apply here. Here is a pretty good thread.
