ejector rod thread direction
While cruising recently, I came across a statement about SW, at some point in time, changing direction on their threading for revolvers. When did this occur??? Specifically - I have two pre-lock 625s and a newer 22-4. I assume all are left hand threaded????
TIA

That change took place in 1961. Since all of your revolvers were manufactured well after that date there is no doubt that they all have left hand threads.

Left hand thread
An easy way to tell a LH thread is to look for a small groove just behind the knurling.
BTW, the threading was changed because the 44 magnums were unscrewing the ejector rod and tying up the cylinder such that it couldn't be opened.

I once ruined the extractor in a pre-32 Terrier that I thought would be right hand. It was left. :-(

As Chris above found out the hard way, unfortunately, left hand threaded ejector rods pre dated the 44 Magnum by almost 10 years.
Few know that the first left hand threaded ejector rods were introduced on the post war I frames in 1946 and the J frame in 1950.
The loosening of the right handed threads was definitely not limited to the 44 Mag.
