I would like to get a replacement rear sight assembly for my 1985 model 624. I know this is the 'old style' with the square front on the leaf.
Both my windage and elevation adjustment screws seem to lack clicks or detents and don't operate smoothly. I applies some light oil in hopes that it is just gummed up. I want to have a new set to use and have my old set as a back up in case spare parts get scarce for the old styles.
How do I measure the blade height on my existing rear sight?
I see assemblies and blades with various heights such as .126", .146" and .160".
Do the sight blade kits work with both new and old style sights?
I would like to upgrade to a white outline if possible, then change the front to red ramp or even a fiber optic to help out my older eyes.
Are the rear blade kits fairly easy to install?
I just got my 624 back from S&W after a recall check and lock work repair.
Thanks.
