Finally got my holster. Started carrying my 629 today. Hard to imagine you can ccw a N-frame, but if your the right build and you have the right holster, you can't even tell.

This rides in an old versa max 2 for IWB, and a Mernickle for OWB. Both are good holsters, the OWB more comfortable and IWB more concealable.

On both of the X15's I removed the elastic strap and replaced them with leather harnesses I made. The elastic looses strength over time and causes the rig to sag and flop around. Even when new the elastic will sag with a heavy gun. It also isn't very wide so it cuts into you when carrying.
The leather straps are 1" wide so they distribute the weight better making the rig more comfortable. They are 8-9 oz leather so they are very strong. Not thin like some leather harnesses. Since the harness is leather it doesn't loose strength over time and holds the gun and holster securely.
The rig is very comfortable. It's very adjustable and once adjusted it makes carrying a large handgun easy. I've worn it 8-12 hours with 6 inch N frames with no problems.
Also, you can easily remove the harness and put in on another X15, X2100, Safariland, or most any other vertical holster. Takes less than a minute to swap it out.

Sorry, for posting the same picture, but it's all I have at the moment. I regularly carry my 657 and LH 629 3" in a Bianchi Black Widow, Bladetech OWB, or Galco SSH shoulder rig. So happens I am carrying my 66-1 2.5 as I types this.

Here's my 3" 657 square butt with Ahrend's retro combats.
It rides in a holster made by Ryan Grizzle (my favorite holster maker).
Here's my first year production Model 58 sporting a Tyler T. I carry it in a Ryan Grizzle or Lobo Leather holster.
Here's the horse hide Grizzle holster....my great grand kids will still be trying to wear it out.

As you say some draw mods are needed.
My friend and I would carry our single actions ,strong side,
behind the hip but butt forward in a kind of Cav draw.
It was most comfortable way and did not strain the shoulder
as much on the draw.
We "full figured fellows" [also known as BUFF's]
need different ways of doing things....

Your right William it's all about comfort when we're packin. I never gave the holster height much thought. The lower holsters can be uncomfortable at times. I wear shoulder holsters with the 5 1/2", 6", 7 1/2" barrels. I have the 10 1/2" shoulder holster but haven't test drove it yet. I'm just getting into 4" barrels. I need a comfortable holster.
