for those who carry an N-Frame
The title says it all. Share with us your favorite N-Frame carry gun and rig. Pictures from those who can would be appreciated. I'll start with mine lately its been a 329pd in a simply rugged pancake before that it was a 4" 629. Sorry but I can't do pics. Thanks

Nightguard 327
I carry a 357, 8 shot nightguard. Best revolver I have ever had. Shoots excellent, light, night sights, easy to conceal, and 8 shots of 357, Whats not to like about it?

Don't carry it often but my 38/44 fits this holster better than expected. Holster made by Willam Brown, Tombstone, AZ for my custom 3 1/2" .45 Vaquero.

I've carried a 4" N frame often in a Kramer belt scabbard and his IWB (#2 I think?).
On a good belt I could carry the IWB under a t shirt. I asked cop buddies to try and spot it. Even though they knew where it was they couldn't see it. The guns always had Spegel wood boot grips to avoid the snagging that you sometimes get with rubber grips.
With a good holster and belt & some attention to wardrobe you can carry some big boomers undetected.

I carry my model 21 loaded w/ Hornady 200 grain HP's in a Triple K Pancake along with a speedloader/speed strip. It keeps the bears away.

I have a 627 Pro that I sometimes carry in a Don Hume pancake holster. I like the gun, but it does get heavy by the end of the day. The Night Guard series may be the ticket...
This isn't the best picture I've ever taken, and doesn't include the rig, but here you go. It no longer wears the Hogue Monogrips. I tried some round butt iron wood grips, but they caused a blood blister on the web of my hand. It now wears Pachmyers which don't seem as long as the Hogues.

Although I don't do it regularly, I have carried a 6.5" M29-2 in a vertical shoulder holster (ala Harry Callahan). With the right cover garment, it isn't visable at all. A 4" M25-5 or M624 just disappear in a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake worn OWB, again with the right cover garment. Both of these set-ups are comfortable.

I have carried a Model 25-2 with a 4 inch barrel around in a paper sack.
No kidding. I looked like a wino at the time.

I didn't do it regularly either, but I occasionally carried an 8-3/8" 29-2 in a shoulder holster. Agreed that it does take a suit coat or the like to cover it well.

My 25-13 in a Desantis Speed Scabbard. Its pretty rarely CCW'd, but its my standard woods rig. I was surprised at how well this rig really does conceal though.

I'm wearing a new 4" 629 in a new Simply Rugged Pancake, on a 1.5" Milt Sparks leather belt, the holster was in the mail this morning and I thought I'd try it around the house.
With a lightweight, short sleeved cover shirt worn open over a T-shirt, it conceals and carries surprisingly well.
I purchased the above for woods CCW and I think it's going to work out well.

For CCW I prefer my SW1911, but when concealing isn't necessary, I prefer this combo, my 629-2 'Mountain Revolver' .44mag in an old safariland shoulder rig. I happen to be a right-handed person, and this was a right-handed holster, but after a lot of draw-practice I decided to actually 'flip' it, and I wear it on my right side now, as a lefty would for cross draw. I find that my 'cavalry' draw is significantly faster than my cross draw, and also much easier for me to control and limit where that muzzle is pointing between it leaving the holster and the sights reaching the target. Also, I've found that being a righty, it's easier for me to 'forget' this massive gun is there (not entirely, but you know what I mean?)when I'm wearing it on my right side. Anyone else wear their shoulder rig on the same side as their dominant hand? I find it to be comfier, faster, and safer, but I know it's different strokes for different folks. I just got this awesome wheelgun not long ago, I wear a big jacket in the winter, so I might be able to CCW with this rig in the colder months depending on where I'm going and what I'll be doing.

Thanks for all replys and pics. I admire those who pack the 6" and longer barrels. I was happy with a 6" 29-3 until I tried the 4" 629 and now the 329pd has me all smiles thanks again and keep the reply's coming

I am new to the forum and I bring a gift. I am a life long S&W fan. My first pistol on my 21st birthday in 1987 was a new 669. I do not have an N frame. I have J and K frames. I bought Hogue Monogrips for an N frame by accident. They are still NIB. The first one to ask for them in this thread and post a pic of their N frame with the request can have them for free. You will need to get your address to me and I will pay for regular mail within the US. My two requests: 1) only ask for them if you really intend to use them, and 2) post a pic with them on after you get them.

One thanks like that makes it worth doing. Thank you.
Plus you are right, there is something special about gun nuts and all guns, not just our own. Gun nuts know that...

I got your pm and address. They will go out tomorrow for sure. I am glad I could turn your day around and happy to know they are going to someone who wants and will use them.
I am looking for: original grips for a 1983 Model 36 J frame or a 1988 Model 19-5 K frame. I will gladly pay a reasonable price, so let me know if spotted.

I carry a 627 Pro in a Simply Rugged holster on a good belt of unknown make. It's a dang good set up for carry. It's not the easiest thing to reholster one handed into the Simply Rugged holster but it's a good carry rig.

My other N-frame is a 6.5" 629 Classic. I haven't carried it in ages but when I was much younger I carried it holsterless, butt forward IWB for concealment and in a Bianchi 5BHL when out hunting (no pics of the 5BHL).

Inexpensive GunMate nylon IWB....
DeSantis Speed Scabbard...probably my all-around favorite because it protects ones clothes from the hammer and sights, is very "high-ride", excellent retention and very fast.
Dillon 5" that I gave to a friend with a 5" 629 Classic...
Custom made by a friend many years ago....a Brewer Special...
Don Hume JIT
Strong Leather 935...great field holster...
Roy Baker Pancake for a 6"...
Eagle Industries Tactical Thigh Holster...
Last but not least...a No-Sho......Made in Houston, Texas back in the 1970s and 80s....once on the belt all you are hiding is the gun...

Here are the two rigs I had made for the Model 28's I own. First confession---no I don't wear both at the same time. Laughing is permissable--my wife and I both laughed at the old man in his shorts.
I had these rigs made by two different makers--special orders--Black Hills in Laredo and Ross Leather in South Africa.
Ross did the basket weave and Rudy did the floral.
I chose a 3" belt and high ride scabbards because they are old school and the way Border rangers and lawmen of the time carried their weapons--not low slung.
The high ride rides well in a car and is very comfortable on the hip.
Blessings

Now for the laughs.
They wear very well under a shirt such as I have on and do not print.
Again--no--repeat-----NONONO, I don't wear both at the same time.

Here's one of my favorites for work, when I get a little dressed up. Model 627 Pro with leather gear. Holtser and speeloader pouch by Tex Shoemaker. Or the 625 MG in 45 Colt, which after this year, will no longer be authorized.

S&W 625-11 Scandium Snubby
S&W Model 625-11 Performance Center Revolver
Lew Horton Special Edition
Caliber: .45 Colt
6 round cylinder
1.88 inch barrel
Fixed sights (v-notch rear/white dot front)
Weight: 25 oz. (scandium frame/stainless cylinder & yoke)
Extraordinarily concealable in either strong carry or cross draw modes. Lightweight. More than ample ballistics. Quite accurate for self-defense range. Very reliable. What more can one ask for?

Good looking duty rig by Tex.
Rudy does some for some of the Boys.
Mine is based on a duty rig--old school--and rides high and comfortable.

This is daily wear. 329PD, with 6 warm loaded 240 gr. Lasercast SWC, over a heavy dose of 2400, in the cylinder. A cartridge wallet with 12 more of the same thing.
In the speedloader, are 6 factory, early 1970's vintage Norma 240 gr. Power Cavity steel jacketed softpoints. Yup, I have a few left. I have also fired 2 out of my 329.
The recoil is HORRIBLE. That is with the X frame grips on it too. But, if a feral hog and I are dueling for 1st. place on the food chain, I am sure I won't feel the recoil.
The 329 is carried in a Bianchi 111 Cyclone holster, held down by a Bianchi 1/4" thick Contour belt.

Those 329's are sweet toting six guns. I wouldn't part with my pair for anything

For years I've carried a 5" 629 Classic in a SafariLand holster -- A belt rig but fairly high-ride. The belt is a 2" 3 ply nylon w/plastic insert that's VERY stiff and that surely helps.
I'm either walking/fishing or on a horse when I'm carrying this rig.

My two requests: 1) only ask for them if you really intend to use them, and 2) post a pic with them on after you get them.

The holsters in the top photo are Bianchi X15's while the bottom photo is a Ted Blocker. The X15 with the laces on the yoke is probably 40 years old or so.
On both of the X15's I removed the elastic strap and replaced them with leather harnesses I made. The elastic looses strength over time and causes the rig to sag and flop around. Even when new the elastic will sag with a heavy gun. It also isn't very wide so it cuts into you when carrying.
The leather straps are 1" wide so they distribute the weight better making the rig more comfortable. They are 8-9 oz leather so they are very strong. Not thin like some leather harnesses. Since the harness is leather it doesn't loose strength over time and holds the gun and holster securely.
The rig is very comfortable. It's very adjustable and once adjusted it makes carrying a large handgun easy. I've worn it 8-12 hours with 6 inch N frames with no problems.
Also, you can easily remove the harness and put in on another X15, X2100, Safariland, or most any other vertical holster. Takes less than a minute to swap it out.
