Talo 357 3"
Can anyone who has a Talo 357 tell me if it's a 686-5 or 686-6. Mines not stamped to clearly. Thanks.

Thanks. That what I was thinking. Mine just wasn't stamped that clearly.

Other than a non fluted cylinder and special grips are there any other differences between a Talo and a reg 686 plus three inch barrel gun? Later, Dave

Other than the grips and non-fluted cylinder they seem to be the same. Sights are red ramp fronts and white outline rear. I actually got mine for less than the standard one. At one shop the standard 3" was over $800 and I paid $759 for the Talo at a different shop.

I've got the hots to buy a 686 plus three incher and I too got a similar deal to yours awaiting my decision... The dealer doesn't have either one on hand and would have to order one in... I hate to spend that kind of money without holding one in my hand first... I have never seen a Talo in person only on my computer screen... Later, Dave

Dave just some info for you. I have small hands. The finger grooves on my 624 just didn't fit my hands, I had to modify them to fit me. The S&W hogues on my 460 and my 625-9 fit my hands really well. The wood grips on the Talo are on the Talo are on the slim side and fit me real well. The grooves are spaced nicely. Someone had posted earlier that the grips didn't fit them cause they had big hands. I'm only 5'7" 160 in stature if it helps any.

Just another thought. Get whichever one appeals to you. The grips can always be changed. I always wanted a smith with an un-fluted cylinder and the 3" barrel just sealed the deal. I think that if the price was reversed I still would have gotten the Talo because the looks really appeal to me.

Dave, you might want to check Davidson's web site. They had a couple of the Talo 686 3" recently and I got mine cheaper than the LGS could sell me a standard 686....Go figure
