Default 625 hand spring installation

I foolishly lifted the hand out of my new-to-me 625 as I was taking the gun apart for some polishing and installation of new main and rebound springs, as I had done with model 10, 15, 686 revolvers in previous years. Now I'm unable to get the spring back into the trigger slot.

I assumed the spring pivots on the hand pivot pin, with the short arm caught by the front of the trigger slot and the long arm lifted over the second hand pin to press it forward. It looks right, as far as I've been able to get it, but the spring coils hold the pin about 1/32nd of an inch from being able to push through the trigger. So, I'm obviously wrong again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
