Default S&W Model 19 4" or Ruger RDA 34 4"?

I'm completely new to revolvers.

Given equal condition, which is the better choice? I don't know enough about revolvers to know if there are any significant benefits of one over the other in terms of quality, features and value.

Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

There's also a Ruger GA36 6". I assume a 6" barrel will be more accurate.

IMO the Smith hands down, the 19 4" is quality revolver that is sought for because of the fine workmanship, good luck

The Smith 19 in 4 inch is a great choice, but so are the Ruger security six series revolvers. The 19 is beautifully made, and I find them "elegant". The six series by Ruger are well made, and brutally strong, more akin to a 586 S&W than a 19. The Smiths have better triggers, and I believe are made with more craftsmanship. The Ruger has a coil mainspring, so not as good of a trigger, but will withstand hotter loads than 19's. They are very similar in size, sharing holsters, and speedloaders. If you want a better trigger, and more refinement get the 19. If you want strength get the Ruger. Her are some pics of a nickel 19 I sold lately, and my Ruger security six. the topstrap, and cylinder are larger on the Ruger, and it does not have the flat on the barrel that the 19's do.

Use a heaver 158 grain bullet in the .357 Magnum, and you'll be okay. Stay clear of the 125 grain or lighter Magnum loadings.
