Default Help with identification

Hi. I just bought a 44 mag. model 629-5 serial number CDK7198. One one side of the barrel it is marked 44 magnum and on the other side the barrel is marked Mountain gun. I have S & W catalog 3rd Edition and can find only one reference to this gun. It is on page 421and has little info and states that this gun was only make in 1989. Is there more info available? If you have any info could you pass it to me on this forum? Thank, Bill Hughes

I thought that the 629-5 Mountain Gun came into production in 1997.

Kelly, you are right, but the later model is a lockable model while mine is pre-internal lock model. Bill

Bill, by the serial number you've given, that gun was shipped in 1999.
