Do you use holsters with your blued guns?
If so, do you worry about holster wear? I have an old K-frame holster that was given to me and it fits my 19-5 perfect. It even has a S&W logo stamped on the back. My 19 has a decent finish, with minimal holster wear, but I do not think it is collectable enough to worry about adding any more.

Like any gun or weapon---being in a holster for long periods is bad for it--the finish, that is.
Wear is wear and like with cars--its gonna get dings---get over it.

If you wanna keep it nice, don't holster it. I would never holster my 19-2. it's too nice. Pick up a more worn 19 if you wanna carry it and not lose some finish.

For me a holster is for a working gun whether open carry or concealed. I do not holster my target/range guns and do not store any gun in leather. Back in the 70s I carried my blued 38/44 Outdoorsman in a holster while hunting in Fla. Now it lives in a gun sock unless I am shooting it or cleaning it. The main difference is in the 70s it was an $85 .38 spcl now it is a $1000+ collector gun. In my experience most holster wear comes from LEO type use riding constantly in a car or draw and shoot type practice. I did not see an increase in holster wear from putting the revolver in a holster at the beginning of a hunt and leaving it there until the end of the day.

You didn't mention if the holster was lined or not, but a plain unlined one will definitely wear the blue with enough use (drawing and reholstering). A soft lined one will do so less, but most attract moisture and can rust the gun.

As others have stated don't store guns in holsters, all my guns have proper fitting leather holsters and get carried in them at one time or another. Holster wear is not abuse, it's honest wear.
For collectors it's a different story, but I don't collect guns, I carry and shoot mine. I've never tried to get a discounted price for a gun that has honest wear. I've more important things to worry about than bluing loss in my life.
Guns are just things...

If I carry the gun, then yes. I do not store guns in leather.

I don't use a holster just to go to the range unless required by competing in a match. Woods walking or hunting certainly requires a holster of some sort as does concealed carry. I find leather to be the best. A well fit leather holster will not cause undue wear but a loose fitting one will. A little holster wear at the muzzle and on high points can't be totally avoided if you carry the gun very much at all. A small price to pay for carrying a nice gun.

I have two revolvers that had holster wear when I purchased them, so I continue to holster them when I carry. I have a K22 Mod. 18 that is in very good condition (98%) and I don't carry that one, just hand carry it out to my home range. Like all above said, they all will show wear eventually. If it's a shooter, holster it, if it's a treasure, maybe not. I purchased a very good looking 3913 that now has wear marks on it from daily carry. Like Joe in SC says, small price to pay.

+1
The only guns I don't have holsters for are a 6" 686 and a Ruger 22/45. They are strictly range guns. All of the other stuff gets carried at some point in time.
I respect collectors, but I can't ever see myself buying a gun just to lock in a safe and admire. I admire my guns by putting them to work!

Why in the world would anyone not put a revolver into its' holster , how else would you carry one?
Just don't long term store one in a holster, keep your revolver clean and apply a thin coat of Johnson's paste wax as needed, and everything should be OK.
Ya gotta remember stainless guns are still fairly new, I mean its' only been 40 or so years, and for some of us that is still just enough time for Beta testing.
