Hi guys,

I finally picked up my first S&W, and all is right with the world. I am now a man. : ) I got a Model 60 used at a local shop, and I was hoping you might help me date it (not take it out for dinner and a movie, but tell me when it was made, just to clarify).

It's a stainless model 60 .38 special with a 3" barrel, 5 shot.
Serial number AEU 7XXX

Thanks!

If it's a 3" heavy barrel with a square butt, its most likely one of the Jon Jovino guns from the latter part of 1984 to early 1985. We like pics, you know!

Awesome. Thank you. Is there a good way to gauge value? I could try to post some pics later.

Is the first identifier, C12, the model number? I have read elsewhere that the model number would be on the yoke. Is it not actually a 60?

The model number will be on the frame itself when the cylinder open. Like this...

By the way, I think it would look a lot better with a set of these on it instead.....

Touché. I'm clearly not much for details. There it is. I feel better about that now, thank you.

And I couldn't agree more. Them there wood grips are sexy. I've only had it for a day. So give me a minute to pretty it up.
