My 686 finally arrived today. Just picked it up. No real point to this post other than I am excited and wanted to tell someone else interested in firearms. I have had a 649 for a couple of weeks now which I bought for my wife. So, there are really two new guns and the first handguns I have ever owned.

Any suggestions on best home defense rounds in .38 and .357?

Congratulations. What size barrel? 6 shot? or Plus-7 shot? Any pics? Less muzzle flash with a .38 - A .357 can make so much flash and noise in the dark house you can potentially become disoriented.

4 inch barrel. Six shooter. Eventually want to get some Ahrends grips for it.

For .38 defense I like Federal Nyclads, which is what you see in my avatar.
