Default 686-6 New front sight .250 or .300?

I'm ordering a pinned gold bead front sight for my 5" 686 Plus, 7 shot, non fluted cylinder from S@W. (Canadian model). Anyone know offhand which height I need. It will replace the common stock red insert front. I'm away for a while and can't measure it. Thanks.

My 686SSR takes the .250 with the stock rear sight. But, that is a 4" barrel. I went from a green fiber optic to the gold bead. My older eyes really do better with the fiber optic than the gold bead.

I'm older as well and have fiber optic fronts on my Sig 226, CZ Kadet, CZ Shadow and Ruger Mk 3 22/45. I ordered a Wilson 1911 in May with a gold bead but won't have it for a while. How do you find the gold dot? Thanks

A .250" should work for any K/L frame except a Mountain Gun. For that you need a .300" height.

Nominal front sight height for the 686's that have replaceble blades is 0.230 so your 0.250 should work fine.
