Default S&W 178046 (632) and 178044 (640) PRO SERIES

Saw these at Shot Show and just now got my hands on some. Gotta say that I really like the fluted barrel and dovetailed night sights.

Some pics for everyones enjoyment!

Default Trigger Pull

How is the trigger pull. Is it the same as the airweight guns? Have you shot it yet? How is the flame and blast out of the barrel. I currently carry a 340 M&P with .357 Speer rounds so recoil is not a issue, but I like the idea of the heavier gun and the extra round.

I have about 8 of these and have not pulled the trigger on all of them, but the few I tested, felt pretty clean.

For $25 bucks though, you can greatly improve the trigger pull by installing the Apex Tactical kit: https://apextactical.com/store/produ...php?pid49.html

Default Pro's

I picked mine up last week here in CT, I fired the .327 Saturday. Awesome little revolvers. Range session went great.

Anyone else have one of these 640 Pro models?

If I could design any J-frame that I wanted, it would have: no lock/.357/all steel/night sights, front and rear.

I am wondering what holsters fit this gun....as the barrel length is slightly different from standard j-frames??? (please chime in and correct me, because I am unsure! )

I would love a 640 Pro, not for pocket carry (my least preferred method of carry), but for IWB or appendix carry.

FYI - the 632 Pro seems to be sighted for a combat target alignment, all three dots in a row with the front sight coaxial to the bullseye, at 7 yd with Speer 115gr Gold Dot .327 Magnums. The .327 Magnum Federal/American Eagle 85gr JHP/SP hit an inch or so low - 94gr LSWC .32 S&WL's hit several inches low - more so at 12yd or even more with a 6 oclock target picture. The 60 Pro grips are ideal - but, sadly, are currently on back-order at S&W.

I picked my up on Wednesday and have already put 150 rounds through it, some of them .357. It shoots as smoothly as it looks. The action is very smooth. It is accurate. I'm going to change the grips to the Packmayr Compact Pro which I prefer, in which I had put on my 3 inch model 60.

Even though this is heavier, I'm going to retire and sell my BG 38, and hot for carrying the 640 in a holster instead of a pocket.

I picked up a 640 Pro two weeks ago and while the action was nice for factory I experienced some stacking of the trigger stroke. Fixed it with a Wolff 13pd trigger rebound spring.

The gun is everything I've wanted in a J Frame for the past 30 years. I use a combat hold on the target and it shoots to point of aim with Buffalo Bore 38+Ps 158gr SWCHP/GCs.

I did not like the tear drop shaped grip that came on the gun and tried a Hogue boot grip but too small. I then went to the Pachmayr compac and I like it a lot.

This gun was smooth from the box and well finished. I own a lot of Js but this one is the best. I carry it in a DeSantis OWB scabbard and I use HKS speedloaders as the Safariland drags on the grip, and interferes with a smooth reload.

I have used the moonies but so far find them a bit cranky. Not so fast as the speed loaders. Others experience?

C4IGrant: I'm thinking about getting a 640 Pro Series. Do you ever pocket carry it?

By the time we get done with you you'll have a book to go along with your suit and bow-tie.

Hahaha! Yes, sorry for the redundancy. Just trying to get as many different opinions and insight as possible before buying...
