Default Tooled Holster/Rig for my scoped M29

I have been looking for a rig to hunt with my scoped M29. For whatever reason it seemed harder then it should. I had finally settled on an inexpensive nylon rig as it was the best I could find for what I considered reasonable money.

Today at the OGCA show I came across this holster and knew I had to buy it. It is marked "Ted Bayne" "Maker" "W. Branch MI". It is very thick leather, at least 3/8" thick, and lined with a softer grade leather.

I tried to Google the name, but it doesn't appear this gentlemen makes holsters for a living. I have found reference to him making custom saddles as well as reconditioned tack.

The buckles threw me at first, I don't think I have seen them used on a holster before. I now think they are buckles used in horse tack. It has multiple adjustment points, and at this time I am not sure exactly where I want it to ride. It looks like it could hold more scope then I have on my gun.

The leather tooling seems very well done to me. I would have been pleased with this as a plain holster, to have it tooled is just icing on the cake.

Regardless, I feel lucky to have found this. I hope the deer take notice of how fine I am dressed next deer season.

I say you lucked out finding that holster. It looks great, built well and looks like a custom fit. Congrats!

I headed over to visit Smith357 today and we played with the holster. It has 4 adjustment points and was not difficult to configure.

It allows for front carry, side carry as well as (!) concealed carry (!). Not that you could actually cover it up, but that it can ride high in your arm pit with the barrel facing down if you wanted it to.

Guy kindly offered to be the model, so here are a few pictures of him.
