My best friend has always liked my engraved .44 Special Model 624 4". He decided he wanted one and he has the money to buy a quality example.
After looking on Gunbroker for awhile, he decided this one was too good to pass up:
S&W Smith Wesson 624 4inch NEW IN BOX SCARCE! : Revolvers at GunBroker.com
New in the box with the red Circle C stamp which means the gun passed the recall. (S&W was nervous that some "bad" steel was used to make the cylinders of early 624s. They recalled them to test the cylinders. To my knowledge, none of the guns ever failed the test.)
Quality N Frame S&Ws go for pretty high prices when they are pre-lock, in the box, unfired except for the factory test firing, and with all papers. While this gun certainly wasn't cheap, it still has the inspection sticker on the original handles and is virtually perfect.
Gotta pay for quality, right?
He's just glad to finally have one. We both have Colt SAA revolvers in .44 Special and he's been wanted an 624 4" for years.
