45ACP/10MM MOUNTAIN GUN?
Did S&W ever make a 45ACP version of the Mountain Gun or for that matter a 10mm? If so lets see those pictures and hear about them.

Smith currently makes a 625 (.45 ACP) with a 4", tapered barrel, short lug and round butt. It's not called a "Mountain Gun" but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
I saw one in a LGS last weekend, alongside an official "Mountain Gun" in .45 long colt.

I have a S&W 625-6 Mountain Gun in .45ACP, with the round-butt grip frame, black-powder bevel cylinder, and 4" tapered shrouded-ejector barrel (I don't have any pictures of it right now; I'll have some up later).
I don't know about a 10mm version, but I'd love to have one.

I've recently been seeking a .45 ACP Mountain Gun. Just had a deal fall through on a Springfield Armory Commemorative[ I wasn't fast enough]. I'm still looking, but they seem hard to come by. Nick

To the OP, they never made a Mountain Gun in 10mm. There's a 4" version of the 610 but it has the full lug barrel of the longer 610s.

They do look good on this gun don't they? I've come close a few times to buying one of the SA Commeratives, just to go with this gun.

The .45 ACP and the .41 Magnum Mountain Guns bring by far the highest money in the used MG market. Just last week a LNIB .45 Colt sold for $760.00 on GunBroker. A few days later a 657 .41 Magnum, used, non-original grips and no box or paperwork sold for $860.00.
It is fairly rare to find a .45 ACP and the price usually starts at $750....
I've had two -6s and a -4 SA Commemorative. Just kept one of the -6 guns and it is a great shooter...

Mountain Guns
I bought my .45 ACP MG so I could shoot cheaper foreign .45 ACP plinking ammo. It prefers 200 gr loads.
Foolishly passed on MG in .45 Colt. Did bite for one in .41 Mag, which is an excellent shooter.

Dyson

Stumper................You may have the rarest version of all the mountain revolver/guns that S&W ever produced. I see that your box label uses the same product code as the SAC Lew Horton run of 500 back in 1994. What kind of barrel markings do you have on the "special"? I also noticed that your box is of the blue plastic lockable version. The SAC 625-4 came in the cardboard box. I have a 629-4 MG that also came in the plastic box. Forget what SCSW#3 says about the plastic boxes. They began arriving on N-frames in early 1995, if not late '94.

The label on the box indicates the gun was shipped on March 14th 1995

While a 10MM Mountain gun would be cool. For carrying, the 310NG is a nice piece.
The 2 3/4" Scandium framed revolver with a steel cylinder weighs just 28 ounces. A 625 Mountain Gun weighs 40 ounces. That is 43% heavier.
You can use 45SUPER in the 625, but the 310 can be opened up to fire 10MM Magnum.
That is one powerful little package. Not to mention versatile. The 310 will chamber, fire and extract 10MM Magnum, 10MM Auto and 40 S&W

I think a 45 ACP/Auto Rim S&W revolver is the best primary revolver for personal protection a person can have. Pick the barrel length that suits you best.
I keep a 325 Night Guard under my pillow EVERY night.
For several years I carried a Mod 25 with first a 6 1/2" and later another with a 6" barrel [the 6 & 1/2" gun was my Bullseye target revolver], both in 45 ACP, as duty guns.
They performed perfect in every way.

S&W did make a "mountain gun" in 45 ACP - slim bareel without underlug. I have never known of one in 10mm.

Also for you S&W 45 ACP revolver guys, and gals, take a look at the 45 ACP and the 45 Auto Rim ammo offered by Buffalo Bore.
For field use in big pig and big bear country, while not as stout as 44 Mag ammo, His 45 ACP heavy hard cast bulleted ammo would be a great choice.
