trigger pull???
I purchased a model #63 to teach my neice to shoot. (Small J frame, 4 inch, 22 cal., 6 shot)
Single action pull is 4# 5.5oz
Double actiion pull is 11# .6oz
She can not fire double action, weak finger.
Can the trigger pull be lowered?

In a word....yes....with Wolff (or some other brand) reduced-pull spring kits for around $10.00.
Some shooters report issues with light-strikes, but I have Wolff springs in every coil-spring revolver I own and have no issues. My wife has a model 317 (practically an aluminum 63) and the spring change has made it a very useable weapon for her. Along with that....you need to inspect it, or have it inspected and gone-over looking for any hammer or trigger rubs. The reduced-pull springs will work if the weapon is properly lubricated and has no other mechanical issues. At least....on all my guns they do.

Steven, keep in mind that you will never get the trigger pull of a J-frame as light and smooth as a larger K, L, or N-frame gun. The pyschics just won't allow it. They can be lightened some, but can never be as good.
BTW, your 63 is well within normal specs for a J-frame.

I certainly agree with that. The TP on most small frame 22's out-of the-box is atrocious....I know the 317 is. My wife was like 53's niece...could not make a DA trigger-pull without both hands. I installed a 9-pound hammer and 13-pound rebound Wolff spring and she can shoot your eyes out with it now at 25-30 feet. I liked hers so well that I converted mine. The 317 snubs are our little walking-around pistols and the installation of the reduced springs made them very user-friendly. No where near the 617....but "workable".
I fired around 500-rounds of bulk through mine a few weeks ago and had one FTF out of the bunch. I had other guys try to make the round pop in there 22's and it never would.....it was a dud and you will find one now-n-then in the bulk stuff.

Are these reduced-pull spring kits installable by a 'rookie', or is it a gunsmith's task? I have a model 63 and a model 637, both with significant trigger pull. I have a model 67 which is smooth as silk.

The spring kits can be installed if you know how to take a gun open and are fimiliar with the working parts and how to take them out and reinstall. New springs will make the pull smoother and somewhat lighter, but will never approach the level you feel on your model 67.

Small frames have a recoil main spring but the 6i7 has a leaf spring. Either of which can be replaced if you have a good set of disassembly instructions. The rebound (trigger) is the only sticky one to change, but it's not that hard and you don't need that "special tool" for the rebound spring. It's hard to imagine the 617 would have a hard TP. My wife shoots mine offhand with her one pointer finger, but the j-frames....I had to install reduced-pull springs in.
PM me and I will give you a site to go to that has a blow-by-blow description of how to take down a small frame. There is also some you-tube stuff that will show you the same thing, but I preferred the picture-by-picture when I was learning.
