Are these actually N frame grips?

Found these at a LGS and assumed they were K/L frame based on the size/feel.

I go to install them on my 686 and notice that the fit is weird. The top of the grips overlap the frame/backstrap and the gap at the bottom of the frame/between the grips is wider than usual.

I've heard that N and K/L grips generally aren't interchangeable, but they were able to be installed on the gun - they just didn't fit very well.

Yes, N Frame stocks. Very nice trade fodder for K/L stocks

Those are some nice N-frame stocks. You can sell them and buy or trade them for a set of like-new K/L frame target stocks. Oh, here's another option, buy an N-frame revolver that is wearing replacement rubber stocks.
