I just acquired a Model 629-1, 8 3/8-inch barrel with broached barrel for scope mounts. Supica and Nahas indicates that the production was 4810. Does that include the Models 29 in the same configuration or just the 629s? I know that they list a production figure of 3,000 for the Magna Classic, but that includes both 29s and 629s. And sometimes the number presented is the original number planned but not the final number actually produced. Does anyone have any insight as to the number of 629-1s produced with the broached barrels for the scope mount?

I believe the 29's & 629's with Barrels broached for Scope Mts. were made in different production runs!! The 29's were done in 1988 & the 629's in 1989!! If my information is correct there were fewer 29's (approx 3450) produced!! The info I have for the 629's agrees with your estimates so I don't believe the production totals are combined!! Maybe Doc44(Bill Cross)will be along to give you some more insight!! He'll most likely have the most accurate information concerning these!!
