Default J Frame 651 22 mag 4 in. adj sights

Moving and have been rounding up some of my pistols out of some bug kits. Was showing a friend my 651 that I think I purchased ( well my bride did) in early 1990's. He wanted to purchase but I don't sell something my wife purchases for me. Anyone know if this pistol was made in a 2.5 inch barrel? Just trying to gather some info for the guy.

Default Model 651's Two and Four Inch Only

The original Model 651 came out with a 4 inch barrel, square butt. Later there was a special run of 2 inch round butt guns. The Model was discontinued for a while, but when reintroduced the gun in 4 inch had round butts only. Below are my two Model 651's. The four inch gun has the "R" serial number which was one of the first 902 that were made, and the other is the limited run 2 inch round butt gun. My local dealer who was a S&W stocking dealer was able to order both guns for me when they first came out with the aux 22LR cylinders.

Gotta love those 22 mags in J frames!

Here's mine; a 4" bbl circa early 1993.

I've got a 651 with the aux cylinder, a 4" gun. Apparently they didn't do many aux cylinder guns as the "directions" on how to install the .22 LR cylinder was nothing more than a copy of a typed set of simple instructions.

Mine was taped to the top of the inside of the box...unsure if that was done by the previous owner or the Factory.

There is a 4" 651 RB LNIB (blue plastic) with everything - including the Master Lock, which dates it to '97, and an HKS speedloader - across town for ~$600. Still debating... got a 4" 617 and 3" & 5" 63 in .22 LR - no .22 WRF, however. I've had a Ruger NRA Commemorative Single Six with pretty cocobolo grips - loud with the Mag cylinder & ammo - inaccurate as everything. It left quickly. I just wonder why I perceive a need for .22 Mag. The OP's pair are really nice, but the included .22 LR cylinder was only supplied with the first part of the earlier production - certainly not the late model one I am considering. Still - it's there - and I have revolver-lust for it.

Thanks for the pix, gang. Nice revolvers.
