Gents, in my continuing advanced study of the spiral tube I decided to take my quest to the Houston Gun Collectors Association show yesterday. Had a great turnout (still going on today). Found these two neighbors I just had to have at the same table. So negoiations began. He won (no I won) we both won. 624 4inch and 625-3 3 inch. Shown in wrong period Heisers. Need moon clips my 25-2 won't loan us any.

The 625-3 3 inch should be a rather rare gun, unless there was another "run" from somewhere else.

I think it is a little on the not often seen side. I've not seen many in 3". I am NW of Houston, don't guess I know where LaVernia is???? Thanks. Just noticed the description on the 625 (only 150 made) in your post. Mine differs in the sight is plain black (No w/outline and the ramp is all black) and the cylinder release is the angle cut one in your picture whereas mine is the regular, without the angle cut. Wonder what I have here? Help ya'll. My SC Of SW is too old, and my blue book does not elude to this. Opinions please.

Hello again. La Vernia is about 30 odd miles SE of San Antone on Highway 87, I grew up there, I saw your "place" as a little east of San Antone.

3rd edition of SCSW states that the M625-2 from 1989 through M625-3 of 1992 was issued originally with a 5 inch barrel and then, later the 3 and 4 inch barrels were added. In 1992 the 3 and 4 inch barrels were discontinued.

They go further to state that the "Model of 1988" is roll-stamped marked on the barrel and has a ramp front sight.

But the "Model of 1989" is etched-stamped marked on the barrel and has a Patridge front sight.

AND, although there is some information indicating production started in 1989...there are models marked as above "Model of 1988".

Also 3rd SCSW states that due to varying reports of production quantities they decided not to list the production quantities. So you may want to letter yours to seek factual data.

I have a .41 Magnum of the Lew Horton run from the ad I displayed here. SCSW (all three issues) does not mention the special run that I have. It is a M657-4. There other two revolvers in 10 MM and .45 ACP are not known to me as to what "dash" they are.

So, I would assume that if your M625-3 is roll stamped on the barrel it would probably be one of the earliest examples of a 3 inch M625 AND since it appears they were made sometime after 1989, maybe even from 1990 to 1992, you may have a rare gun still.

If you letter it you might ask Mr. Jinks about the numbers of 3 inch 625s produced from 1989/1990 to 1992.

You probably know where Poteet is then? Used to hunt down around George West , Three Rivers. Appreciate all the info my friend. Mine is the laser etched "Model of 1989." The front sight has an integral ramp built on top of the bbl. and then utilizes a "partridge of sorts" that is single pinned into the "ramp". I appreciate all the info. I beat him down to $750 I think it was It really is like new. Have some Moons somewhere but just ordered some more from Brownells for it.
