Default Dating a 586 from serial number

Hi - there doesn't seem to be much info on the net, so hopefully someone here can help. I'm after a date for my 586. The serial number is ACJ18XX - can anyone help out?

On the face of it, it could have been made ~ 1983, but maybe earlier or later.
Per the instructions in the S&W Catalog, the S/N’s can have “large gaps in the s/n sequence” and “out of sequence” as well.
We can make an “assumption” but if the book doesn’t know for sure I don’t know how I or anyone else is supposed to.

The L frame three letter prefixes starting with an “A” run from 1980 – 1988
The -1 guns started production in 1986
So if you have a no “dash” gun it is most likely a 1983 to 1986 production piece.
But due to the questionable sequencing its possible it’s older.
If you have the original box it should have the production code number on it
This is a much better number for tracking birthdays of S&W revolvers

For my 586 No Dash with the number being ADE1980 I am showing Oct 1983.

So my 586 no dash has a production code 103502 on the original box. what does this mean?
