Ahrends: Retro Combat Grips vs. Tactical FG Grips
Anyone know the main differences between these? The retro look a little narrower towards the top of the grip and squared at the bottom?
I'm a fan of the tactical and was wondering if I'd like the Retro better?
----------- Retro------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tactical

The Retro Combat grips have more rounded 'corners' and a 'teardrop' profile, while the Tactical grips have 'squared' corners and a 'oval' profile.
Between the two, I much prefer the Tactical grips.

I bought the combat tacticals for 2 K-frame round butts, a K-Frame square butt and 2 J-frame round butts. Brownells carries them at good prices. I like the cocobolo ones.

Just ordered one of each for my Sq K. I'll figure out what feels best.

The Tactical grips have a flat front, which helps in pointing the revolver - it snaps into place quickly. The Retro Combat grips are rounded in front, which makes them very comfortable but slightly less quick to point. The butt is also tapered for better concealability, with no effect on the way it handles.
I find I prefer the Tactical grips except for one thing. The fillet is also flat, and the edge rubs the knuckle of my middle finger. It gets a little raw after 50 rounds or so of .44 Magnum. The flat front reduces the side pressure you need on the grip to maintain control, improving consistency and recoil management. I plan to file down the annoying ridge at the corner, leaving the top of the fillet flat for good control.
Both grips fill your hand nicely, but are not too big for good DA shooting. There is a palm swell, very subtle (unlike Hogue's). The shape encourages you to hold the pistol high on the tang, for less muzzle flip.

I notice while shooting my 58 with target loads, that the gun moves in my hand and requires me to re-adjust my grip. It wears Tacticals.
I'm wondering if the Retro's would alleviate this movement?
