Default Approx Value of S&W Model 60 3" 38 Sp ?

I just learned of a nice S & W Model 60 that is available from private owner. The gun is a 5 shot, SS, 38 Special, 3" barrel, adjustable sights, factory round butt rubber grips, etc. There is no lock and I do not know if there is a dash number. Don't have a serial number yet. What would be the approximate value of such in excellent condition?

Thanks, Dave

How much are they asking? Then we may be able to tell you if it's fair or not.

The Model 60 was made from 1965 to present, so it is rather difficult to evaluate a gun that may be new to 46 years old. If it has a full underlug, it could be a -4 with a 3" barrel and it is a desirable item as it was a limited production. Also, condition means everything in a used handgun. Without photo's it is difficult to estimate. There were 3" barrels made at numerous times during that period. Any 3" 60 with adjustable sights should be worth between $250 and $550. I know that's a pretty broad range but need more info.

From your description the gun just about has to be a 60-4 which was a limited production model from 1990. Somewhere from $325-400 would be reasonable.

That's what I needed. A broad gauge of value was all I was looking for. If the gun has not already been sold, I will get the dash number and serial number.

It does have a full lug barrel.

Thanks, Dave
