N Frame Factory Square Butt Combats, football relieved?
Thanks for any input some of you may have on this thread.
I recently purchased these and didn't notice something until after I bought them.
Every set of N frame factory finger groove combats I've seen (with one exception on this site) have had the speedloader cutout. This includes both square and round butt models. An oddity or just rare?
Can someone help identify this pair as to when they were available?
Thanks,
Murphy2000

Mine have the speedloader cutout. There is a date stamped on them, but I can't read the year. Do those have a date stamped inside?

Nightowl,
They haven't arrived yet, so it will be next week before I can check for a date on them.

I'll bet the date will be in the 80's.

I saw a set of combat stocks a few years ago with the football cutout and haven't seen another set since. I believe the ones I saw were round butt. Nice find!

The earliest factory N-frame SQUARE BUTT combat stocks were made with the football recess. Shortly after, however, the football recess was dropped and replaced by the speedloader cutout across the board on both targets and combats. While I've seen a few other examples of the N-frame square butt football combats on the net, I've never seen the K-frame equivalent.

Adding these to this thread. Funny how I didn't notice the
football cutout until I got them either.
Fantastic early examples either way.
