I got mine back from The Sand Burr Gun Ranch. It looks different because I had a set of Pach's installed. It also has a 10 pound trigger pull and smooth as glass. Denny is a true craftsman. The revolver is perfect now.

Junkyard dog gets new shoes
Here are before and after shots of my DAO 36-2. I picked up the combats at last weekend's show in Riverton: $50. Much better.

Well, looking back, I've posted replies to posts on this thread, but never posted any pictures of my own "J" Frames. Which in a way is good, because if I had, they would be gone with the Photobucket debacle. So I think I'm going to give it a shot with the forum's own picture service.
Here is about as early a J frame as I'm likely to find, bought from a fellow forum member a couple of years ago. A "Baby Chief". Shipped in May of 1952. This photo is from the previous owner, can't find any of my own right now, and he is a better photographer than I'll ever be.
Here's another early one that I bought from the same fellow, a wonderful early example of what was later to become the model 40. But when this one was shipped in December of 1953, they were still calling it the "Hammerless Chiefs Special", this model would be named the "Centennial", after the company's 100th anniversary in 1952, and when model numbers were assigned, as I noted above, would become the model 40:

Well, the above are my two earliest J Frames, and here are some of my newest...these are the so called "Magnum J Frames", and are all chambered for the .357 Magnum cartridge.
From Top to Bottom:
Model 340 PD, .357 Magnum, shipped October 2nd, 2014;
Model M&P 340, .357 Magnum, Shipped October 29th, 2011
Model 640-1 Pro Series, .357 Magnum,
Model 640-1 .357 Magnum, shipped July 1999
All are No Lock variations. Of my three dozen Smith and Wessons, none have an internal lock, although I have reluctantly come to terms with the MIM parts. For the last few years, the 340 PD has been my most carried handgun. It's 11. Something ounce weight make it an extremely lightweight burden to bear!!
Best Regards, Les

I have lots of J's, but these 37s are a handsome pair. The RB is a new acquisition from 58-59, and the SB dates to 1976.

Went to my LGS last week to pick up a new Shield and this little fella was in his used gun case. I couldn't leave without him.
Model 36-2, factory DAO in matte finish.

Here is another "J" frame, my Model 63, which I bought new back in the 1980s. Shipped from the factory July 1983. I bought the Bianchi Model 10L holster at the same time, and they travel in the side pocket of my travel bag (unless I'm flying, of course), wherever I go.
This is a great little gun, and lives up to its name, the "Kit Gun", as it has been a part of my "kit" since I bought it, those many years ago!! A lot of .22 has passed down that barrel.
Best Regards, Les

It's the Taurus 617, 7-Shot 357. I carry 135gr. SGD 38+P in it. It has a very smooth action. Accurate and fun to shoot.

Model 649-2
This is my Model 649-2 that I bought new in 1996 and then "leant" to my sister about eight years ago. She was without a means of self protection at the time, and I gave her the Model 649-2 as well as a pristine Model 15-3. I just traded her a Model 638-3 for the 649, so it's once again back in my possession after a long absence.

My summer carry. Freshly worked over by Nelson Ford and a trigger that is WONDERFUL
It may supplant the bulldog as my year round carry with a trigger like that!

Here's my J-frame contribution. It's a model 34-1 "Kit Gun" in .22LR. Bought it for my wife back in 1980. I have used it to train a few women on double-action revolver shooting, before moving up to .38 Specials. It has also bagged a couple of blue grouse and a few rabbits.
S&W Model 34-1 "Kit Gun" in .22LR with Altamont walnut grips.
Thanks for looking.
God bless,
Birdgun
