Default Cracked Forcing Cones?

Would a cracked forcing cone on a K-frame .357 be obvious upon visual inspection?

From what I have read, its apparent that these models are prone to this issue.

Reason I ask is that I have a 3" Model 65-5 on "hold" at a LGS. When they reopen tomorrow I want to close the deal, but need to be sure the forcing cone is indeed OK.

thanks,

It should be visible to you at the 6 o'clock position where the forcing cone is flat rather than round. The two that I have seen were plainly visible but I cannot say that will be the case in all instances.

It should be fairly obvious, but take your reading glasses and a bore light -- just for added confidence. That cracked forcing cone thing is way over blown considering how rare it really occurs.
