Default Were all S&W 60-14 revolvers 'LadySmiths'?

Picked up one, SN DAE****, at a pawn shop. Seems to be in excellent condition but I've not yet shot it.

All I can find on this model is it was supposed to be the 'Ladysmith' version but I can find no 'Lady Smith' stamp on it.

Also does it have a two piece barrel (don't look like it but I've never seen one up close that was supposed to be made that way.)

Thanks!

No. I got the regular version new a few years back. It was not bead blasted like the Lady Smiths and it had the plain Uncle Mikes rubber grips rather than the nice wood ones the Ladies got -- but as plain as it is -- it's a good shooting 60-14. By the way, it's a one-piece barrel.

Thanks Ashlander. The 60-14 sort of matches my 640-1 (pre-lock). I opened the 60-14 up and I am amazed of the changes they have made. Those MIM parts are not all that bad. Lockup is tight on both guns and I don't see any real problems in those parts.

Now to get better wood grips for both and do my action jobs on 'em.

I take them apart, hone the slide's bottom, polish the slides spring hole with a cratex on the inside, polish the bolt stop's friction surface, use Microlon lube, and maybe a Wolf reduced rebound slide spring (just by 1lb.) Then end up with locktiteing all the screws back in.

I do that on all my Smith wheelguns.

I have a 640-3 to go with my 60-14. Except for the hammer they look alike and were manufacturered within months of each other. I am jealous that you can open them up and actually do something other than damage.

Ash,

Thanks.

Yea I hate seeing bunged up screws!

I have screwdrivers that are filed to fit specific screw sizes!

Rubber mallet taps off the side plate. I even have a stone that fits the chambers and allows me to polish them so the cases fall free if you just shake the gun some!

What I can't do is straiten a bent crane or messed up ejector rod (but I can replace it!) Or messed up ratchets on the cylinder unless I replace the whole star ejector (and then you have to fit the hand to it again.)
