Where have the UDR Perf Ctr 627's gone?
I went to a major gun dealer today to order a second PC 627 with 2.625" barrel, and they couldn't find one at any of the distributors they checked. What gives. Am I going to have to wait until after Christmas?
When I bought my first one, they pulled it up on the computer, and I had it two days later.

The PC seems to have been pushing hard to keep up with orders all year. Back in May I ordered a 627 UDR through my LGS and was told they were back ordered. Through the grapevine I learned that the PC had turned to filling orders for other N-frames for which sizable ordered backlogs had developed.
In September I found and bought an almost new 627 that had been made in February of this year; I can't magine why anyone would sell it, but I picked it up just to make sure I got one in case the PC never got them coming off the assembly floor again. But in late October the one I ordered finally showed up, and I'm impressed enough with the model that I am going to hang on to both of them. Excellent guns, just excellent.
Be patient, and they'll get one made for you. But I wouldn't bet on having it available by Christmas.

I got this one at the S&W Shooting Center last February. It was the only one they had.

UDR Means Ultimate Defense Revolver and Budsgunshop.com has them in stock along with the .44 629UDR.
I think they want $823.00 for each one, that is where I picked up both my 627 & 629 UDR last year.
btw... The 627 was made famous fro the movie "Bloodwork" with Clint Eastwood.

I have one and just never heard the UDR tag. Really like the "Bloodwork" nickname -I also have a "Dirty Harry" 44 Mag but in a 4"-still works .(it wasn't a 44 Mag in teh movies I am told) Love the Clint Eastwood movies!

dwever,
You already have one... and want another one? Kind of gluttonous, aren't we? Of course, having had my second one for over a year... I should know!! Seriously, it's a fine revolver... er, they are fine revolvers... love my pair!
Now, about Clint Eastwood movies... and buying what he uses... I, unknowing, bought a new model reel-type push mower a couple of years back - nearly killed me. A kid across the street thought I was having a stroke - offered to finish my 10,000 square foot front yard - said I was like 'the old guy in Gran Torino'... Hmrph - he had a postage stamp sized yard. I now have a battery operated mower.
If you feel like a drive, SEG, just below Trusville on US-11, had one last week. Call them... they might ship - Bud's would be cheaper that way, I am sure.
Stainz
PS I remember the adverts for the original release - 1999 - it was termed the 'Ultimate Defense Revolver' then.

Yeah, it's true, a real glutton as I plan on buying a third one actually, I also bought the 5 inch barreled version in 2008/9 I think. Nice to have all my match grade moon clips and stuff work among all three weapons. My only other weapons are my agency mandated Glock and shotgun, and a PC 629 Stealth Hunter.
Once I get this next one, my plan is to see which one of the two 2.625" barreled editions could benefit the most from a Performance Center action job and send that one for the action job and I'll pay the $125 to have them drop a fluted cylinder in that one too (so I can tell them apart (- . It is worth noting that the action on the first two are heavy but smooth as glass - very nice. And even the smaller one handles full load .357 very well, I put 70 .357's through at the range, three versions from 130 to 180 grain, lost a little skin on my lower left thumb, but very manageable (other than needing a callous on my thumb there). From my standpoint, the 130 grain .357 load that is Federal Premium's "Low Recoil", well I couldn't tell, but with the N frame not a need anyway. [By the way, I didn't realize 70 or so .357's through your weapon would get it dirtier than 400 .38's. My whole cylinder and barrel were noticeably dark, and I had carbon in places I'd never seen it before]
Found the UDR in Franklin, TN thanks to happy jackson's post on this thread (thanks sir!), but they want $999 minus a 5% law enforcement discount, so I'm going to keep looking and try Stainz lead at the Trussville shop. Thanks guys!

Stainz - thanks!! They still have it, $899. I'm gonna drive down there this weekend so this can be the first PC gun I interviewed first without buying it sight unseen.

dwever,
SEG has good prices even if most folks find them unfriendly. On the other side of the road (US 11) and north of Trussville, about a mile after US 11 becomes a two-lane, you'll find a couple of large revolvers in the parking lot at 'Birmingham Pistol Wholesale' (On the north side of Trussville - away from Birmingham!). He has good prices, selections, and manners, too! They opened last spring - no 2 5/8" PC revolvers, however. Interesting mix.
A fraction of a mile further north and a left turn by the Publix will get you quickly back to I-59. To get to Huntsville, go south and take the first exit (141) - right turn towards Pinson - pass WallyWorld on the left - cross Old Springville Rd by another Publix - keep going (Wave towards your right - you'll pass a quarter mile from my house!). Keep going until it dead-ends in Al 79, a four lane. Right turn - and boogy - it runs into US 231 from Oneonta - stay on US 231 to Huntsville.

That's odd... I have a friend who lives in Leeds - bought from SEG for years - now drives to Huntsville and buys at Larry's! Since June, I have spent my moola at BPW - professional yet friendly - even ordered my 632 Pro for me.

Went by the big Huntsville S&W dealer today (Larry's), still no PC 627's in the pipeline, I suppose this Friday I'll need to travel out of town for one as identified earlier in this thread if not sold.
