There were only 200 made. Why is the price still around $1000 or less? Rarity usually makes the price go up.

The way the gun market works is anyone's guess, I guess. They only reportedly made 103 of the 625-11 several years ago. I saw one sitting on a local store's shelf for over a year, before I traded for it. I doubt the value of this little gem has gone up, and it probably woudn't sell for what I've got in it now. It's a mystery to me what makes certain guns go through the roof and others just lay dormant.......

Remember that S&W is a for-profit company. Sometimes they only make a few hundred of something because they perceive a small demand.

Rarity won't drive the price up if there aren't many people that want the rare item.

Try to build a cult following for your particular model on this forum. That helps a lot.....this forum helped run 696 prices up and I think lowriderfxr drove Registered Magnum prices through the roof in 2004!

The one I found is the same as the one that bobf has. Great to shoot at the range but wouldn't want to carry it all day. I'll get some extra moon clips and the moon clip tool that Clint Walker sells and I'll be ready to enjoy some shooting time. I know I can shoot it without the clips but I might as well get them while I can.

I suppose one could make the case that it has all the features of a "Mountain Gun" but with a checkered top strap and grooved backstrap?

Bring that back as the eight shot model and I would buy one. Nickel would be a nice option. For that matter, I don't know why they haven't offered hard chrome as factory revolver finish option.

It's the only one I've seen and I almost passed on it didn't know how rare they were. Backstrap is smooth, top is checkered. It is an 8 shot.

Every picture I've seen are like mine above, colt_saa has some pictured. SCSW says Magna Combats, their picture looks the same as mine. Are those considered Magna Combats? I thought they were target grips.

27-7 is not a part number. It is a model number and an engineering revision. It does not identify a specific firearm

Nobody knows how many 27s of the -7 engineering revision were manufactured. Production counts are maintained by product code, not engineering revision.

We do know that 100 of product code 170166 and 100 of product code 170167 were all produced during the -7 revision of the model 27.

Many product codes span 2, 3 or more engineering revisions.

As to why a particular revolver will sell cheap, the answer is easy the seller does not know what the demand and current market are for that item. Not everybody lives on the internet and looks at auction prices or posts to the various boards. I am often astonished at what some people pay for things in other parts of the country and that is not even mentioning CA

I bought an 8 3/8" model 57 from a local gun shop last summer. It was pinned and recessed with the faintest turn line. They had it marked $700. I offered $475 out the door. Non-plastic guns do not sell well at this shop and they do not post on the internet so I check their used case often. They turned my offer down. Every time I went in there over the next several months I made the same offer. It is now in my safe with my other 41 Magnums and I paid $475 OTD for it.

I can not tell you how many deals I find in small pawn shops.

The revolvers in question were a Distributor Exclusive offering.

Bangers commissioned the special run. They ordered 100 of the 4" and 100 of the 6 1/2" to be produced in 2000. They were supposed to follow up with 100 3 1/2" and 100 5" in 2001 but those never came to be.

In-fact the entire 8 shot, 357Magnum concept was originally a Distributor Exclusive offering from Lew Horton back in 1997. Only 300 were ever to be produced.



The concept was so successful that it became a standard S&W product.

This image is one of each variation of 8 shot model 27 that has ever been produced. These six revolvers all have the same serial number with different prefixes. This set remains un-fired and un-handled since leaving the factory.

Probably because its not a P n R model 27-2 or earlier would be my guess!
