I picked up this 586 the other day and was wondering if the combat grips came on it from the factory. If they were added later, I might sell them but will keep them if it is possible that they are original. Thanks

I just looked at the SCSW, and it doesn't list combat stocks on any of the product codes. Where the stocks are listed, it shows "TS", for Target Stocks. "CG" is Combat Grips.

This isn't to assert that they were never shipped with combat grips. It just means they weren't "standard".

That's the first one I've seen with combats on it. S&W Combats are very much sought after grips and they sell of big dollars. I've seen some as high as $250 at some gun shows especially the ones with great grain and color in them.

They never came with combats, they were sold with small grips or target grips, it might could have been special ordered with them but I doubt it. Jeff

Thanks. That clears things up. Im not crazy about them and prefer target grips so, I'll stick them in the classifieds here.

A couple of years ago I bought a M586 with a six inch barrel that came with square butt combats on it. I cannot say they were factory issue though.
