Default Loading J moon clips

I can get 4 out of 5 rnds loaded in the SW factory moon clips. 5 th impossible? I called SW customer service and the guy would not let me talk to their gunsmith about this problem. I asked him to ask the GS about it and call me back, and the new J rubber grips use a torx screw and asked what size, he did not know this either , and asked to find out. He said he would call me back. Brownells has a loader for about $50.
If I knew this was such a PIA I would not have paid the extra money for the 442 Pro. Sorry for the rant, I know there are shooter with alot worse
problems. Thanks

This is what you need. BMT mooner/demooner video demo - YouTube No sense spending money on one tool for loading the moon clip and more money for an unloading tool, especially when both operations are too slow. Watch how quick this loads and unloads. Yes, they make one for the J frame. BMT Equipped, Inc.

Default Moon clips

Thank you I have the remover tool already. Great looking tool though .
$80 seems high, but a good product might be worth it if used in matches?

BMT is the way to go if you want to use moon clips.

p.s. You may already know this but you can shoot your gun without the moon clips.

Here is the tool I got for my 625. Reasonably priced, works great. Will work in J frames also. Moons and de-moons both. It's the way to go!

How do you carry your moonclips so they don't get bent and are practical for retrieving?

Have a 640-1 Pro Series and use a HKS speedloader but it is reliable and rugged compared to a moonclip.

I recall Smith Model 547 K frame in 9MM with a special extractor that didn't require clips for extraction. What ever happened to that technology?

Try using a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze the last round in. Thats what I do on the tough ones.

Cheap hog ring pliers work very well. I got mine in a set with rings for about $3 at the local Pep Boys. Look in the area of the seat covers.

If you have a bench grinder, a pair of dollar store slip jaws can be modified into a very nice tool by rounding the edges over on one jaw and carving a groove in the opposite one. The radiused jaw goes inside the clip and the grooved one on the cartridge.
