Default 686 front sight pin ?

Hello, I've recently started research for front sight options for my 686-6 and noticed that there's no pin under front sight, just the hole. Brownells list it under number 20 on their exploded diagram, but says the part is discontinued by the factory. Is this a new design not requiring the pin, or was I blind enough to not see pin "walking" out?

I think you may be looking at a black roll pin, that appears like a hole? S&W hasnt used the solid pins for years.
I guess its also possible it fell out?

Thanks, DeeBee, yes, I can finally see it with magnifying glass, I've been tricked by the fact that I could put a paper clip through it. Thanks for clarifying. I wonder why is it discontinued by the factory as brownells states.

They may still have some solid pins, if thats what your looking for. I just got some for my model 60-10 with a 3" barrel. They still have both types of pins for my gun.

They list 2 for the 686.
part # 07013 front sight pin (CH)
part # 07725 front sight pin
I dont know which one you need, but if you call S&W, I am sure they will send you one.

No problem. I always liked the look of the solid pin , over the roll pin.

Just reuse the current pin or order one from Brownels. When you order one you might get a solid pin or a roll pin, it doesn't matter which, they function the same.
