Default Moon Clip Pouches/Holder??

Not sure if this is the right area or not, but I will post it here. I carry a S&W 627 as my duty weapon at work. Right now I carry my extra moon clips in a N-frame speedloader holder. Do any of you know of anyone that makes a better moon clip pouch/holder? There are a few stipulations on what I need. It must be black clarino high gloss leather with the brass/gold snap. The speedloder holder I am using seems to be working pretty well, but didn't know if any of you all have something else.

The only other carriers I've seen are made for speed shooters, and wouldn't be good for street carry. I love the full moon clips, and would be happy to carry a revolver for CCW, but how to conveniently carry either speed loaders or full moon clips has escaped me.

I carried a 610 for about 15 years as a Deputy Sheriff. I made a Black Basket Weave Quad Holder for mine. It was a 2 Up 2 Down design, with Nickel snaps on it. I constructed it with 2 compartments with a divider that looked like a leather Freeze Plug separating the Up and Down compartments. It worked very well, and was reasonably compact.

You might check with Tex Shoemaker about constructing one for you. The one you are using is probably not that bad, but one that would hold 2 in each compartment would be better.

Have a Very Merry Christmas

Bob

They can often be special ordered from custom holster makers. I paid $80 for one that will hold two full 8 shot .357 (it has a little exotic in it accounting for the high price). I use match grade moon clips for the extra rigidity.

Additionally, tactical pants (such as the 5.11 and the 5.11 Tac Lite Pros) that have a magazine pouch will often easily hold two or three .357 moon clips stacked vertically. The bigger magazine pouches such as the Tac Lite Pros allow the clips to fall side by side, but not a big issue..

[PC 627 2.625" barrel].

8-Shot: What is your duty holster sir for the 627?

You're lucky; I wish I could carry my 627 on duty. I think your best bet will be a speedloader holder that is tough enough to prevent the thin moonclips from getting bent during the course of everyday and "extraordinary" use. You will need to check the moonclips frequently to ensure that they are still serviceable and not bent.

Be advised that you do have the option of using a speedloader. Or are you adamant in your desire to use moonclips?

My duty holster is made by a local company called Looper Leather. It's their steel lined holster with the EVO hooded attachment. The EVO attachment is made by blade tech. Looper is partners with Blade Tech. Yea I have some of the 5 star speed loaders. They work really well, but the moon clips are do fast.
