Nice looking revolver Oliver!
It's NOT a Registered Magnum however. It's a pre Model 27 from 1957.

Thanks a lot Robert. Good to know, the auction house described it as a registered magnum. What was its official designation then ?And do you know when they started using the 27 model number ?

Welcome to the Forum.
Is the number you provided taken from the bottom of the grip frame?
You may want to refer to this "Sticky" for more information to provide for a proper I.D.

Morning All, Well it is here in OZ, I was hoping some one could help with this ? (The S&W 686-5 stainless in excellent condition with a 8 3/4inch barrel ) Date of MG? etc, does this model have a solid firing pin?
or floating one ? I was under the impression that the 686-4 was the last of the good models ? I'm probably wrong on this not sure? Any help from you guys, is very much appreciated
Kind Regards,
John
