Welcome to the Forum,
I suggest you post your enquiry in the Hand Ejector 1896-1961 Forum. Read the information in the link and try to post pic's. I can't help you with that small amount of information. Several models share serial# ranges. It's like saying I have a green Chevrolet, when was it built...You get the idea.

34-1
Merry Christmas.
I've being nice and Santa gave me 34-1 s/n M216000
Can anybody tell me the year of manufacture?
Also, does "000" mean anything? Like The First/Last gun of a production cycle (like month production cycle or year production cycle).
Thanks
And let Christmas be White for you

Welcome to the Forum and a Merry Christmas to you to.
M216000=1982
The 000 is just the last 3 digits of the serial#, nothing else.

D580186=1973ish
D746118=1975ish
The Model 10 was never offered in stainless steel so they would be nickel plated.

Welcome to the Forum,
The CYM serial# prefix most likely dates to 2004.

S&W 686 serial number lookup and dates
Hello all; new forum member here. I recently inherited two S&W Model 686's with 6" barrels that look and feel great, and I would like to ask if anyone is willing to help me determine the dates on these guns:
1. Model M686-1 Serial# AWM8149
2. Model 686-6 Serial# DAW3455
I would greatly appreciate any other info you can tell me about these guns. Thanks much! :-)

Welcome to the Forum,
The previous owner really liked Millett sights. Both revolvers have aftermarket Millett sights installed and I'm not sure about the small post front sight blade on the left revolver if it's a cut down Millett or something else. The grips are also aftermarket Hogue rubber. Both revolvers also appear to be polished outside of the factory finish.
The serial# prefix of AWM dates to about 1987 and DAW dates to the early 2000's possibly 2004 but a S&W historical letter would be required to nail that one down, I'm only speculating on that one.

Hello All, Happy New Year. I picked up a 629-5 w/5 inch barrel. Could someone look in their book for the year/date? I think its 2001 but not sure. Its looks like a standard production gun nothing special except pre-lock which I wanted. I also prefer the pinned lock and not the machined one into frame, but took what I could get at the most reasonable price after looking for a few weeks. Ser# CEU3698. Thanks, Pete

CEU shipped in 2001, which barely beat the internal lock system. The 629-6 was introduced with the lock in 2001. If it's truly a 5" barrel, it's probably a 629 .44 Classic Stainless, which was produced in 2001 with a 5" barrel at a retail price of $768. 5" barrels are termed "rare" on the regular 629 . . .

Thank you. Yes it is a 629 Classic .44 w/ 5 inch barrel. Not a fan of that lock hole.

S&W Model 66 3"
I'd like to find any information on my Model 66 3" (BPY2987). I had an Ashland Model 66 in the early 80's, but traded it. This one is a recent lucky pickup.

CYH0413= probably dates to sometime in 2004. The C serial# series is all over the map in the early 2000's.

Born Date for my 640 Pro
I bought a 640 Pro without a box and would like to know when it was made. My standard catalog of S&W (4th edition) does not have it listed. The only thing it says about the Pro series is that they were produced between 2010 and 2015. The serial# is DNH6320. Your help would be appreciated, thanks

Model 19-4 Serial Number Date?
Thanks to the member who helped me identify the dates of the two 686's that I inherited from my recently departed father, and I am asking for your help on a Model 19-4 that I got from him. As I recall, my dad told me that this gun had been through a house fire; which explains the discoloring of the bluing on the cylinder. His plans (before he died) were to send it to Cylinder & Slides to get it re-blued; but I kind of like the look, and it works just fine as is. Would love to know when it was made, and any additional insight anyone can share. Serial number is 98674. Thanks! :-)

clint_tx,
98674 is NOT the serial#. The serial# is located on the bottom of the grip frame. You will need to remove those grips to see it. The number you posted is an internal S&W assembly number that keeps fitted parts together during assembly and means nothing once the firearm leaves the factory.

Thanks for that clarification and direction. I removed the grip and looked at the bottom of the grip frame. The serial number is 27K0469. Does that help?

Hi Oliver,
1973 according to the Standard Catalog of S&W, 3rd Edition.
BTW, I had the opportunity to shoot one of those a few years ago and it was the absolute loudest firearm with a gigantic muzzle blast I've ever seen. Hold onto your hat shooting that one!

Hi Robert
Thanks a lot. Yes I heard it’s a blast to shoot, and I bought a Ruger NM Blackhawk in .30 Carbine too, so I’ll have two flame throwers to play with.
